Evan Bayh would be a good pick but the base would never accept him. Obama could ram him down their throats but it probably wouldn't help enthusiasm.

Bayh is a useless moderate hero. He's a mediocre public speaker and would be absolutely crushed in a debate with Paul Ryan. Furthermore, even if Obama offered, I doubt he would take it, because he's said to have disliked life in Washington and wanted to return home to Indiana.

Anyone else think Cleland is a great dark horse?
