All right, in every Irish general election, who would you have voted for?
1921: Sinn Fein
1922: Labour
1923: Labour
June 1927: Labour
September 1927: Labour
1932: Labour
1933: Labour
1937: Labour
1938: Labour
1943: Labour
1944: Labour
1948: Labour
1951: Labour
1954: Labour
1957: Labour
1961: National Progressive Democrats, since I'd be longing for a secular and socially progressive alternative
1965: Labour
1969: Labour
1973: Labour.  Wouldn't be thrilled about the pact b/w them and FG, though I'd probably see it as necessary to get the damn bastards (FF) out.
1977: Workers' Party thanks to the Tullymandering and Conor Cruise O'Brien's media censorship.
1981: Socialist Labour
February 1982: Workers' Party
November 1982: Democratic Socialist, even though I'd be pissed off at their pro-Unionist stance on the North
1987: Democratic Socialists
1989: Democratic Socialists
1992: Democratic Left
1997: Labour
2002: Labour
2007: Labour
2011: Labour
Next: If there were a left-wing independent candidate in my constituency, they'd get my first preference.  After that, United Left Alliance.  I like Sinn Fein's policies better, but I can't vote for them because of people like Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness.  If they dropped Adams in the South (and replaced him with Mary Lou McDonald) and McGuinness with some person who's not a terrorist, they'd get my vote.

I would've scribbled on my ballot at every election. All the Irish parties are dire.
Hmm...as a someone on the right of the British Labour Party, I'd expect you to be naturally with the Irish Labour Party as well.  Is it the fact that they've done so many coalitions with FG?
