It is a new decade and Governor Paul Henderson of Massachusetts and his running mate Senator Larry Kent of Washington defeat the Republican presidential nominee, Vice President John Petty: Petty, was a native Californian, who had been President Katherine Barnes, Secretary of State, until resigning from the cabinet to oppose Vice President Edward Morris, for the Republican Presidential nomination: Morris had a fatal cardiac arrest on the night of August 25: Barnes intervened and persuaded the delegates to rally behind Petty, who emerged as the party's standard bearer by default: The President invoked the 25th Amendment and nominated Petty as Vice President, so the party's newly minted nominee would have the veneer of incumbency. Here's the election result and the map.

Henderson 279
Petty 259

After what Republicans quote and claim as a "Do Nothing" administration led by Democratic incumbent, Paul Henderson: the G.O.P. finally settle on Bill Stevens: he was considered to be a perfect choice, coming from Ohio, had served on two seperate occasions as United States Senator, he had served as Secretary of the Treasury during the administration of Michael Barnes and then as Secretary of State, during Kathy Barnes presidency, during this period which extended from early 2025 to 2029, Stevens became the face of the Adams foreign policy and was regarded as the most influential foreign policy facilitator since Foster Dulles, who served under Eisenhower. This service in the cabinet and legislative branches, paved the way for Stevens to emerge as the ideal choice for the G.O.P. in 2036. He selected Senator Henry McKenna of Florida to be his vice presidential running mate. The only achilles heal for Stevens was his age, he would be 72 at the time of his election, anyway here's the map for the 2036 election.

Stevens-McKenna 365
Henderson-Kent 173
