http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/06/27/todd-akin-at-the-heart-of-liberalism-hatred-of-god_n_885280.html

This was after NBC decided to remove the phrase "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance aired during its coverage of the U.S. Open Championship.

"Akin: This was something that was done systematically, it was done intentionally, and is tremendously corrosive in terms of all of the values and everything that’s made America unique and such a special nation.

Perkins: Why would NBC do this?

Akin: Well, I think NBC has a long record of being very liberal and at the heart of liberalism really is a hatred for God and a belief that government should replace God. And so they’ve had a long history of not being at all favorable toward many of things that have been such a blessing to our country."

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

This is worse than the rape quote (at least more inaccurate).

It's impossible to be more inaccurate than the rape quote. But this is about just-as, yeah.

Oh? My church has a different view; it specifically spells out the idea that God can work through governments and individuals alike. I don't think my liberalism is hatred for God; in fact the more liberal I get over the years, the more devout towards God I become.

This won't lose him any votes. The rape quote will.

Are you sure?  Really beating that Evangelical drum could potentially lose you a few votes in the middle, even in Missouri, Vosem.   Makes him seem crazy to independents.

I know Missouri is fairly right-wing but it's not Alabama. Clearly nominating someone this out there was a big mistake. Just check out his website, it's bizarrely fringe for a major candidate in a state that only leans toward the right.

This is from June 2011.  Still awful, of course.  I'm just saying though.
