It seems I have not been entirely forthright with you all, namely BRTD. Several times he asked me if I'd attend a show in a suit and tie. I said no, I would not. Well, it turns out I would.

In a bow tie.

And tweed.

Here's a video still from earlier in the day.

Now see, I had left a lunch with the Czech and Croatian foreign ministers and then went to midtown to return something at a store, then had some tea at the Four Seasons with a friend, and then wandered around the Met for a while before I realized there was a concert for a band I had paid for going on. So I was going to go change, but I was cajoled to go anyways. So I went. In suit and tie. I apolgise for my dishonesty.

Simfan, have you ever watched "Curb Your Enthusiasm?"  If so, what is your opinion of Larry David's contention that a black man wearing a bow tie is probably part of the Nation of Islam?

I had just finished speaking.

I believe the saying goes "bean pies and bow ties", and as I lack the former I can't possibly be a member of the Nation of Islam. However I strenuously maintain that the best dressed blacks dress better than the best dressed whites.

That is to say, if you were somehow able to objectively grade people's fashion sense, the top 1% of black dressers would have higher scores than their white counterparts in the same percentile.

Wearing a tweed jacket to a show sounds like it would be really hot and uncomfortable.

The band was Two Door Cinema Club. I wasn't really dancing, a bit of hopping, perhaps.

It was in Central Park and a bit chilly, actually.
