In a nutshell, oakvale and belgiansocialist came to the conclusion that being Catholic is more hipster than anything I do and that it's only a matter of time before I convert to Catholicism. And some mentions of Andy Warhol and that guy who's mentioned in the Jawbreaker song "Boxcar".

Something about Andy Warhol and that guy who's mentioned in the Jawbreaker song "Boxcar".

The whole thing kind of came out of an argument between me and belgiansocialist as to how many Protestants there are in the "scene" in Belgium, since he was saying that the Protestants in Belgium are some of the last people who'd ever be in the scene and any Christian hardcore bands touring Europe playing Brussels are probably still playing to a mostly atheist crowd.

Being a Hipster, to me, implies, among other things, some level of insincerity in your interests or a certain level of deliberate flamboyance for irony's sake. TJ is perhaps the quietest, humblest, and most sincere person on the forum, or at least among them. Flamboyant, though, maybe, but not quite in the same way... Hipsterish, though? No way.

While I strongly disagree with many of TJ's views, he is certainly not "ironic"  about them, or whatever bullsh*t terms "hipsters" use.

No. The real world seems to bother him. If anything he's slightly square.

Are you serious or just trying to be deliberately childish?

No. I mean he writes posts about things he doesn't like but knows that the world is moving that way anyway. If you're young and socially conservative that is how the world is to you surely?

Ugh, I really wish you hadn't pointed that out.  BRTD knows a lot of arcane stuff but he also has some huge blind spots.

TJ cannot be a hipster because I like TJ.

I don't see what's childish here. Have you considered offering explanations for your implications?
