Well he already said that if re-elected, he will serve out his full term (which ends in 2011) so he should be put in the "not running" category. Also, it will probably be somewhat of an issue in the 2006 re-election campaign so don't think he's just saying he'll serve his full term and not mean it.

He could be laying low untill he is re-elected.?.?  Your probably right that he wont run, but I think calling him a long shot is fairly accurate.

Im mostly likely going a back a Southern/Midewest Governor in the 2008 primaries.  Ive only been voting since 2002 and Im already tired of losing.

And if he was to say afterwards that he was running, people wouldn't react well, especially in PA.

Its a possibility.  I really dont know all that much about Vilsack.  But like I said before, I am definitley going to back a Southern or Midwest Governor.

Bayh (former governor)
Warner
Bredesen
Easley
Vilsack
Clark (not a governor, but still a DC outsider)

Bill Clinton said the same thing during his last re-election campaign as Governor of Arkansas. He resigned about a year after winning the election.

1) At the time, no one cared about Bill Clinton. Rendell would receive much more attention for that move.

2) Clinton was pretty popular in Arkansas so maybe the voters didn't mind as much. If Rendell pulled that, it would cost him.

As much as I'd like a liberal Northerner, please not Kerry again! Perhaps I'd compromise for Clark. However, since just 12 months ago nobody would have predicted a Kerry nomination, I'd be willing to bet that some unknown candidate will rise again in 2008-- like Rod Blagovejeich (who ever that is!) :-)

I doubt Obama will run.  IMO, he needs a few more years of seasoning.  He does undoubtedly have potential, though.

Thev guy's been in the senate for 23 days.  How do you know he has potential.  He could just end up as another senator like Mikulski or Bingaman that you never hear about.

He could, but what other senators do you know that are young, intelligent, and well liked?

And by the way, potential usually means that he's got a future ahead, and that things could happen in the future.  Not that he's proven himself now, or that he's definitely going to in the future.

Breaux and Lincoln are definite longshots. Bayh, Warner, and Edwards are probably the most likely of those.
