against Aubry, Sarkozy will win. Aubry is a very bad candidate for prime time : no charisma, no sympathy, muslim connection, stupid ideas,... and sarkozy is a good candidate...

Is this a poll of, adults, registered voters or likely voters?

Adults.
Quote
600 voting age Illinois residents
were polled by Crains/Ipsos and the results were about what you would expect. President Obama is the top choice with 55%, Romney with 29% and 16% saying they are either undecided or do not plan on voting.
The poll has a
margin of error of 4.7%
overall
and that number is higher in individual sub-groups.
This is not a particularly useful poll
since it measured voting age adults, rather than registered voters who are likely to vote. Thus, the numbers themselves are not as important as the margin of Obama's lead. It suggests that Illinois will not be even remotely competitive for Mitt Romney and of course this leads to concerns about Republican candidates for Congress across the state.

Illinois was NEVER going to be a tossup state. This is laughable that anyone thought it would be.

I just love how all the liberals around here get so upset when blue avatars include needless, partisan jabbing in their poll thread titles. I'm just glad to see it goes both ways.

We get at least one of those goofy polls (last one saying the state is competitive) every Presidential election in Illinois. Poll comes out, says that the state is now competitive. GOP gets all excited. Next poll shows them losing handily again. Almost like clockwork.

This is a poll of adults, so Illinois is still very much in play.

If its of all adults, it is probably
closer
, but still with reasonable Obama lead.
I cannot imagine an election night where Obama loses IL.
