While it's interesting to see what kind of reaction they inspire, we didn't learn anything new about familiar characters like Christie, Ryan, Thune, or Rice.

The most revealing moments of the convention are the performances by politicians who haven't been on the national stage for long. Ted Cruz's speech stood out to me - unlike other neophytes (e.g. Ayotte), he was comfortable and charismatic while onstage. If Romney loses, I expect that we'll hear a lot of speculation about him running in 2016.

Is it legal for Cruz to run in 2016? He was born in Canada.

His parents were both American citizens at the time.
