Guys, it is not that hard to glance at a Wikipedia article. The answer is an obvious disagree -- I can see some vague parallels, but the two of them are not equivalent figures, and are in fact nowhere close.

Hardly. If we're comparing Paul Ryan to non-American politicians, I would say Paul Ryan is America's Matsukata Masayoshi and Mitt Romney is America's Takahashi Korekiyo.

Actually, in comparison, he is more like Biden, though I don't even think that is particularly good.

Option 3 because I'm not that knowledgeable about Varadkar, but from what I've read about him he doesn't seem as cutty as Ryan, so if I were more confident I'd say 2.

I'm a big Varadker fan, but I've grown to hate Ryan. Varadker is, at least in public, a far smarter person and a better speaker. One interesting this about this Varadker guy is that he criticised the media treatment of Ron Paul on radio this one time. Ryan seems far more hackish.
