http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/01/mitt-romney-211_n_1848432.html

Romney shook hands with National Guardsmen outside the U.S. Post Office and talked with a local resident, Jodie Chiarello, 42, who lost her home in Isaac's flooding.

"He just told me to, um, there's assistance out there," Chiarello said of her conversation with Romney. "He said, go home and call 211." That's a public service number offered in many states.

Chiarello said she will likely seek some other shelter because her home was submerged in the flooding. She expressed frustration about the town's lack of flood protection.

"We live outside the levee protection that's why we get all this water because they close the floodgates up front and all they're doing is flooding us out down here," she said. "It's very frustrating, very. We go through Katrina and Rita and now we're going through Cindy, Lee and now Isaac."

Why was he supposed to do? Promise her something and then not follow through?

Obviously it was a poor choice of words but this really is the lowest form of gotcha 'journalism' here.

Mitt Romney showed poor preparation for an emergency. If she had had a cell phone... a working one, that is, because cell phones lose their charge quickly...

And if the cell phone is in her house it is obviously both ruined and inaccessible.

Lol^^

But seriously. What is a candidate or president supposed to do if someone says that? Take them in and provide for them? Last time Obama had that happen to him he promised some lady a job and never got back to her. Disasters like this suck but it's not the job of candidates to provide. Mitt is just a candidate. He did all he could and told her how to find help.

Just gotcha journalism and partisanship at its worst.

Seems to be his plan for the rest of the country.

He should have pulled ten thousand dollars out of his vest pocket and handed it to her.

I assume he meant that she should go to her second home. Everyone has more than one right?

I think this is a bit much.

However, he should have told her to inquire about the FEMA Funded Residential Property Voluntary Flood Buyout Program before he completely abolishes it to pay for his double-down of the Bush Tax Cuts.

That would have been even worse. "Oh my god, Mitt Romney thinks everyone has enough money to just pick up and buy houses wherever they want."

Roll Eyes

More desperate Democratic hackery.

More anti-Mormon bigotry.

Altho, getting people to move out of flood-prone areas is the only viable long term solution.

Objectively, yes. Very much so.
