According to most polls Romney was not favored to win Virginia before, but this makes it nearly impossible for him to win. Goode only needs to siphon off 2 or 3% of the vote from Romney to make Obama the sure winner of Virginia.

The election will be called very early on election night.

not goode news for Team Romney. You look at 3 key swing states and Romney is fighting against a headwind. He has Goode in VA, the popularity of the auto bailout in OH and the legal pot initiative in CO boosting young turnout. It could be that Goode, GM and grass put Obama into a second term.

Barr only got 0.73% of the vote in Georgia in 2008; unfortunately, I don't see why Goode would do so much better. He gets 3 or 4% when his name is mentioned in the polls, but most people will only think about Obama and Romney when they head into the booth.

Unfortunately, since third parties tend to overpoll before the election, Goode most likely won't affect the outcome in the state of Virginia, much less the nation.

Most of the people who vote for Goode would never vote for Romney anyway.

Barr did so poorly in Georgia because people remembered him, and their memories of his history in Congress and in state government were far from positive. I know several people in Atlanta who normally vote straight-ticket Libertarian, even, but decided to cast a vote for McCain or Obama in 2008 just because they so strongly detested Bob Barr. I don't know much about Virgil Goode, but one can probably assume his former constituents remember him a bit more fondly.

OK ...

So, A) how does the Republican Party know how many of Goode's signatures are fake and B) if they "know" that 36% of the 20.000 signatures are fake, that would still leave 13.000 valid signatures. And only 10.000 are needed.

I hope the GOP falls flat on their face with this ridiculous challenge, but you never know with that Republican Attorney General ...

Nope, but even if he takes 0.5%, that could be enough to deliver Virginia (and likely the election), to Obama.

Johnson and Stein have also officially qualified in VA:

Obama's margin of victory will easily be greater than Goode's total number of votes, don't worry.

Given that Goode went down to quite a liberal guy in an R-leaning district in 2008... I don't see why that wouldn't apply to him as well.

Romney can still win without Virginia, so this isn't that catastrophic.

Is anyone happy that voters now have another choice, rather then being gleeful that this is helping one side or the other?

I pretty much want Obama to win, but still. Good for Goode. Hard task to get on the ballot in some of these states. Especially Oklahoma.
