I thought it was a bit flat and mediocre, didn't expect anything new.  It's a glorified campaign speech.

C. It was extremely typical, extremely vague, and poorly delivered when compared to a lot of his other speeches. This speech will not move anyone.

Mitt's, on the other hand, accomplished a lot more.

Nobody can top Clinton when it comes to speeches, and it doesnt matter what your political background is.

Very Average, It was nothing new. Obama seems to be at his best when he's the new guy or the underdog. As the top dog, he lost some of that and much of it isnt even by his own doing. Clinton stole the DNC

I gave it an 85%, 2 points lower than Romney.

Virtually nothing on the economy.  No specifics (which was the main problem with Romney).  The military stuff was good.  A lot of it was repetitive.

I can cite three speeches in this convention that were better.

I really don't know how anyone can pretend that Romney's speech was even on the same level as it, let alone better. Give me a break.

A. I didn't catch all of it but I loved what I saw. He was strong, confident, passionate and even seemed angry at the other side. I was surprised he went negative, but I like how he hit Romney on the Russia thing (which still makes no sense) and the line "we need to do some nation building here at home" is great. I like how specific both he and Clinton have been about Obama's accomplishments. I actually teared up a little at the "you did that" part. I think I will vote for Obama, the only thing I agree with the GOP on at this point is social issues and unions.

The pseudo-intellectual armchair critics here are hilarious. It was a great speech.

I give it a B+ or so. It wasn't great, but it was decent. There was nothing really new or specific in the speech, but I expected that.

It was a very presidential speech - I like his whole "the last election was about you, not me" thing, that was an interesting twist. I think both Romney's and Obama's speechs worked.

Anyway, we'll see how much this has exicted the base soon enough.

CNN did a focus group of undecided voters, that rated Obama's speech.  They had the dial to show responses that would be graphed.  It was a flat line.

All the pundits were talking about how Obama already knows what the jobs numbers will be tomorrow and his speech could be an indicator of the numbers. Basically a more "gung ho we're on our way" speech could signify a strong number while a more humble speech could mean bad numbers.

Anybody give much credence to this?
