1970s neoconservatism =/= 2010s neoconservatism

In the 1970s, an aggressive foreign policy made sense to counter the growing power and influence of the Soviet Union. Plus, the original neocons were New Dealers who favored a strong welfare state and a managed economy.

Or this isn't a closed primary.

I chose not to vote in the Republican primary races (with one exception). Kinda wanted to leave it to them. Of course when they get results like McCloskey, you know that people are just crossing over on all sides. The only interesting element of the races is producing the goofy results.

Welfare statists with an irrational fear of a foreign bogeyman and little regard for unintended consequences of their rigid ideology? I fail to see the difference.
