He was doing so already and if McMahon can successfully make this a story (she has the resources, certainly) she will be favored.

This whole campaign narrative so far has been eerily similar to Blumenthal-McMahon two years ago.

Pretty clear by the facts that Murphy shouldn't have gotten that loan. It's a scandal that Murphy really can't afford to spend time explaining away right now.

Obama isn`t winning by 20 points again like in 2008. He`ll be lucky to win by 10-12 points. McMahon is already running ahead of Romney in CT.

Furthermore, what separates this from 2010 is that

1. Murphy is a weaker candidate than Blumenthal
2. McMahon learned from her mistakes and is running a near-flawless campaign this time around

Sure Murphy probably still has an advantage but if he keeps doing stupid s*** like this and McMahon keeps flooding the airwaves while the Democrats don`t respond because they aren`t taking this race seriously, it could be a gain for the GOP

The DSCC is putting ads up in Connecticut, so they're definitely taking it seriously.

Facts would help with such a story http://www.stamfordadvocate.com/news/article/Experts-Murphy-s-loan-deal-not-unusual-3857807.php

Plus, McMahon isn't exactly playing that smart and is starting to overplay her hand, she quoted a reporter out of context in an ad and the reporter called her out. http://blog.ctnews.com/politics/2012/09/11/author-mcmahon-twisted-my-words/

This is horrible. Blumenthal's early blunders were just personal life lies, not corruption-related. Murphy isn't a long term statewide elected official either.

Obama will likely drag Murphy over the finish line with him in the end, but who expected this to ever be close? Imagine a Senator McMahon - LOL.

Unlike Murphy, I don't think Blumenthal ever trailed McMahon in a poll.   For reasons I'll never understand, Connecticut likes Blumenthal even after the lie allegations came out.  Murphy isn't nearly as well-known or liked as Blumenthal statewide.  Plus, the DSCC is spending a lot of money on Murphy ads, so they're worried.
