My new job has made me more familiar with excel, so I thought I'd do some polling data compilations from the last federal election.

First up, Newfoundland

Least Conservative poll: Poll 96 in Random-Burin-St. George's (2.22% or 1 vote), which is the town of McCallum, which is an isolated community on the south coast. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McCallum,_Newfoundland_and_Labrador

Most Conservative poll: Poll 32 in Labrador (89% of the vote) which is the Innu Reserve of Sheshatshiu in central Labrador. The MP, Peter Penashue was born in the community. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheshatshiu

Most NDP poll: Poll 90 in St. John's East (88.16%) this poll consists of a number of townhomes on Watson and Montague Streets in the Virginia Park neighbourhood in the East End of the city.

Least NDP poll: The NDP got 0 votes in 2 polls; poll 26 of Humber-St. Barbe-Baie Verte and poll 213 of Random-Burin-St. George's

Poll 213 is the community of Lord's Cove which is on the southern tip of the Burin Peninsula. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord%27s_Cove,_Newfoundland_and_Labrador

Poll 26 is the community of St. Julien's near the northern tip of Newfoundland. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Julien%27s,_Newfoundland_and_Labrador

Least Liberal poll: Poll 10 of St. John's East (0.92%) or 2 votes. This poll is in the northern part of the town of Torbay surrounding Withrod Pond, Great Pond and Watts Pond. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torbay,_Newfoundland_and_Labrador

Most Liberal poll: Poll 26 (St. Julien's) of Humber-St. Barbe-Baie Verte (93.75%). The NDP got 0 votes here (see above)

Most Green poll: Poll 35 of Labrador (a whopping 8.21%). The Greens still finished 4th here. The poll appears to be on the CFB Goose Bay, north of the airport. It looks like a subdivision of military housing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CFB_Goose_Bay

The Greens got 0 votes in a lot of polls, so I wont bother listing them.

Depends of the base and the housing, I think.

I don't know anything about the base, but it's probably because there are less Newfies there. Newfies hate the Greens (probably because of the opposition to the seal hunt), but there are probably less cultural Newfies on the base.

Now for PEI

Least Conservative poll
Charlottetown, poll 50. (10.53%) Poll is located in St. Avard's Ward between Upper Prince and Orlebar St.

Most Conservative poll
Egmont, poll 4 (79.87%) Poll consists of the community of Tignish Corner and the western half of the Village of Tignish. MP Gail Shea was born in Tignish. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tignish

Most NDP poll
Charlottetown, poll 49 (52.56%) - Only poll on the island where the NDP got a majority of votes. This poll is also located in the city's St. Avard's Ward, and is just to the west of poll 50. It consists of the area between University Ave and Upper Prince.

Least NDP poll
Charlottetown, poll 64 (officially - 0.40% or 1 vote). I highly doubt this is accurate however, as surrounding polls have the NDP in the 20s, and the Greens with only a handful of votes, while this poll is the reverse. In any event, this poll is in the Brighton Ward of the city, on the North River. Wikipedia says this is the most prestigious and wealthy part of the ward, so it's possible the NDP only got 1 vote there. But again, it's inconsistent with surrounding polls.

The next worst poll for the NDP is poll 4 of Egmont (mentioned above) where the NDP got 2 votes or 1.3%

Least Liberal poll
Egmont, poll 4 where the Liberals got a still respectable 18.83%

Most Liberal poll
Cardigan, poll 9 where the Liberals got 64.49%. This poll is very rural in nature and is centred along St. Charles Rd in the eastern part of the riding. The poll is located near the MP's residence in St Peters Bay.

Most Green poll
Charlottetown, poll 64 (21.37%). This is the poll where I think they swapped the NDP and Green votes by accident. The next highest poll was poll 40 of Malpeque where they got 21.07%. This poll corresponds to the village of Victoria on the south shore of the island. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria,_PEI

The Green candidate is coming from near there and is involved in the leadership of Victoria Theater, which explains things,

Nova Scotia

Most Conservative poll
West Nova, 199. (76.61%) This poll consists of the small village of East Pubnico. It is the last community in the riding on the coast before heading into the South Shore. It is in the Municipality of Argyle, which is nearly equally bilingual. Not sure what the linguistics of this village is though. Argyle went surprisingly Tory despite the Liberal candidate being the Acadian.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Pubnico,_Nova_Scotia

Least Conservative poll
Sackville-Eastern Shore, 107 (0 votes out of 22) This poll consists of a few houses on the northern outskirts of North Preston, a well known community of Afro-Nova Scotians. The Tories got no votes here thanks to the small number of voters, but it should be noted they only got a combined 12 votes in the other two North Preston polls. I guess Black people don't like the Tories.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Preston,_Nova_Scotia

Least NDP poll
Sydney-Victoria, 162 (2.44%) This poll is probably another error. In fact, I think in reality the NDP won the poll, if it was a simple swap between the Greens and NDP. The Greens "won" this poll with 41% of the vote while they were in the single digits in surrounding polls. The NDP won a few and did well in some surrounding polls indicating that this is probably an error.

The next worst poll for the NDP is also probably an error. (poll 4 in Cape Breton-Canso). Possibly another NDP/Green swap.

So, the poll where the NDP did the worst (with certainty) is poll 186 in West Nova. The NDP got 3.55% here or 5 votes. The poll consists of the village of Amiraults Hill, in Argyle Municipality on the eastern shore of the Tusket River, an inlet of the Gulf of Maine. Judging by the name, it's possibly French.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiraults_Hill,_Nova_Scotia

Best NDP poll
Central Nova, 151. (80.9%) Surprisingly enough, not in a riding they won. However, even though this poll is surrounded by Tory polls, it is not an error. The poll consists of the Paq'tnkek First Nation, which is a Mi'kmaq reserve in Antigonish County.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paqtnkek-Niktuek_23,_Nova_Scotia

Best Liberal poll
Sydney-Victoria, 9 (73.08%). This poll consists of the village of Englishtown, on the east coast of St. Anne's Bay on the northeastern cost of Cape Breton.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Englishtown,_Nova_Scotia

Worst Liberal poll
Central Nova, 33 (1.28% or 1 vote). This is an isolated collection of villages in the Pictou County interior, on the riding's southwestern boundary. The poll is centred on Middle River Rd, and consists of the villages of Concord, Lansdowne Station, Glengarry Station, Sheepherder's Junction and parts of Lansdowne, New Lairg, White Hill and Rocklin. All of those villages are probably just a couple of houses.

Best Green poll: Sydney--Victoria, 162 (40.65%) - discredited above; Next best was Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley poll 20 (20.1%). The Greens finished 3rd here, above the Liberals. No reason to think this was false, and the Liberals weren't far behind at 15%. This poll is located on the north side of Amherst, a town on the New Brunswick border. The Greens did quite well in the town, and this was their best poll there. The poll is located between Rupert and Melrose St near the downtown.

Argyle is also very strongly PC at a provincial level (from memory, safest PC seat? I could be wrong, though). You're probably right about that NDP result being a data swap, judging from the provincial results again - the NDP holds a few seats around Sydney, and I think by very safe margins in some cases.

Ah yes, Argyle is very Tory provincially, and is held by an Acadian to boot.

And I am almost positive the New Waterford poll was a data swap. There is nothing different about that poll that would make it go Green when none of the border polls had the Greens with more than a couple of votes.

New Brunswick

Best Tory poll:
Tobique-Mactaquac, 34 (83.66%)
This poll corresponds to the southern end of Plaster Rock and the area between Main Street and the Tobique River. The Town has a large Pentecostal church.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plaster_Rock,_New_Brunswick

Worst Tory poll:
Beausejour, 144 (0 votes)
This is a tiny poll in Sackville, where only 19 people voted. Looked suspicious at first, but then I saw the poll is located on Mt Allison University, so not illogical. The Greens got 3 votes which was good enough for 16%. Despite being surrounded by Tory polls, Sackville was not friendly to the Tories. Probably because it is a university town.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Allison_University

Worst NDP poll,
Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe, 124-1 (5.03%). This is most likely a mistake, a flip with the Greens who got a recorded 19% here. Surrounding polls show the NDP in the 20s and the Greens in single digits. So, the next worst poll was:
Beausejour, 32 (5.83%). This is a very rural poll northwest of Bouctouche, consisting of the villages of Boisjoli and Girouardville. Strange area for the NDP to do poorly, as it's clearly Francophone and the NDP did better in surrounding polls, but I can't see any reason why this could be an error.

Worst Liberal poll
Fundy Royal, 3 (1.69% - 2 votes)
This is a very rural poll consisting of the villages of Canaan Forks, Brookvale and Hunters Home. (basically a strip along the Canaan River). Fairly isolated from the rest of the riding.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canaan_Forks,_New_Brunswick

Best NDP poll
Acadie-Bathurst, 152 (89.44%)
This corresponds to the village of Evangeline, a rural Acadian village at the head of Lac Inkerman.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evangeline,_Gloucester_County,_New_Brunswick

Best Liberal poll
Beausejour, 13-1 (64.58%)
This poll is a Micmac reserve known as Indian Island 28. The Tories got 1 vote here out of a total 48.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Island_28,_New_Brunswick

Best Green poll
Moncton-Riverview, 124-1 (discredited earlier) - 19.5%
Next is New Brunswick Southwest, 127. This poll is the very tip of St. Andrews, NB - a community the Greens did fairly well in. It's located on the Maine border, abutting the Bay of Fundy. The Greens placed just ahead of the Liberals here.

If you go to offfical results, Elections Canada  has fixed some of the results. However, it seams some of them are not caught.

http://www.elections.ca/scripts/ovr2011/default.html

for example in Sydney—Victoria

"The results for polling station 162 were not recorded correctly by the returning officer during validation, when the election results become final. Consequently, under the Canada Elections Act, these results must be reported as such in the official voting results, and may not be changed. The correct vote counts recorded on the statement of the vote for polling station 162 are: Cecil Clarke - 21; Mark Eyking - 49; Kathy Macleod - 50; Chris Milburn - 3; Rejected Ballots - 0. This error does not affect the result of the election."

Thanks for that. So, the worst NDP poll in the province becomes a poll the NDP actually won!

I guess someone must have complained, because I don't see any of the other errors I caught.
