but more important to my decision was a realization that it would be hypocritical and contrary to my understanding of American democracy to vote for third-party candidate. I've often argued that the best way to make a difference is by working from within one of the two major parties, and I really believe this argument. So I couldn't satisfy myself with a vote for third-party candidate.

But I say this and I get torn apart and called a hypocrite and a traitor. Hooray!

I can't remember whether I commented on that situation. I remember finding your positioning a bit ill-conceived and bizarre - the same could probably be said of me, to an extent. But you're a teenager; strange contortions of every kind are to be expected from you. Hell, when I was in high-school, I went from being a straight-A dork (R) to being a straight-A punk (A) to being a straight-A neckbeard (L) to being straight-A hipster (I) within the span of a couple of years. You're clearly putting thought into your choice, and for that you deserve respect. Or at the very least, a bit of understanding.

So Nix has changed his vote about as many times as 20RP12 changes his avatar each day. Tongue

[1]Gary Johnson
[2]Rocky Anderson
[3]Andre Barnett
[4]Tom Stevens
[5]Write-in: Richard Duncan
[6]Mitt Romney
[7]Barack Obama
[8]Jill Stein
[9]Roseanne Barr
[10]Stewart Alexander
[11]Write-in: Jill Reed
[12]Tom Hoefling
[13]Virgil Goode

This isn't accurate anymore. New rankings:

[1]Gary Johnson
[2]Rocky Anderson
[3]Tom Stevens
[4]Andre Barnett
[5]Tom Hoefling
[6]Mitt Romney
[7]Jill Stein
[8]Barack Obama
[9]Stewart Alexander
[10]Roseanne Barr
[11]Virgil Goode

Eliminated write-ins, read a bit more about Stevens meeting with anti-government leaders in the RSA so he flipped with Barnett, Hoefling I researched more on and he seems like a basic paleocon, and that's objectionable but less objectionable than most others, so he jumps, Alexander is less of a joke than Barr, and there's an Obama drop cause of this.

You'd seriously put Romney ahead of Obama? Huh

The only argument I see for putting Obama ahead is "devil you know", so yes. It's a gamble.

I'm unsatisfied with Johnson's campaign (e.g. "I'm Ron Paul")

You do realize you are quoting a thread title rather than Gary Johnson?

That deserves clarification - I'm referring to the thread. I don't appreciate Johnson's attempts to appeal (I'd say "pander," but I don't think that term is quite deserved) to Ron Paul-style libertarians.

My thinking is that Johnson is simply trying to harness the energy of a large national movement that he has a good deal in common with, and by doing that also direct that energy into ideological patterns that are more in line with Johnson's views than Paul's specifically.

I am voting for Obama as I will be next Tuesday.  And also for Steve Bullock for Governor and Jon Tester for US Senate.  This former republican is not amused by the antics that this party has taken the last few years!  I will not in any means support these bizarre, obstructionist and borderline fanatical philosophies!  If there is a time in the future when republicans return to supporting philosophies that help more than just a few rich people, a few fanatical religious zealots, and people who have political philosophies that out do the bad dictators of the past, I'll vote for them.  But that sure is not now!

Could've been posted on one of the libertarian sites where they skew EVERY internet poll with Ron Paul (Johnson to a lesser extent) in it.

Stormfront would cause a Goode surge. Based on current votes, it appears to be on something like the Liberty Forums of the Daily Paul.

Turnout seems dreadful so far. We would be lucky to get half of 2008's votes, which were already 4 times less than 2004's votes.

Of the candidates with enough ballot access to theoretically reach the 270 mark, Goode is the one whose platform would have the most appeal to Stormfront members, even tho he doesn't go anywhere near as far as they would with his nativism.  He might even be the candidate with the most appeal to them even including the ones who are only running in a couple of states, but I'm not certain of that.

However, I think Stormfront people would be most likely to vote for Obama.  Not because they like him, but the reverse.  They would hope that if he is reelected and does poorly, then white disgust would benefit them.

Speaking of Goode, could some Rhode Islanders with half a brain please outweigh Mint's vote?

I took the liberty of doing the coin-toss thing for all the currently tied states, and I got this:

If there was a three-way tie (as in VT), I rolled a die to see who went last, and it was Mitt in that instance. Johnson beat Obama and lost to Romney in the second round.
