I've seen the argument that Napoleon III can be seen as a proto-fascist (intersection of corporate and political power backed up by strong military, authoritarian rule backed up by plebiscites and demonstrations of popular support, etc.)but I don't really see how even that rather flimsy argument applies to Napoleon III's uncle Napoleon I.

Well, he was clearly the first European to try and conquer Europe.

It's fun to think of the "failed in invading Britain so invaded Russia instead" parallel, but no.

I haven't read the article, but I firmly support Simfan's efforts to blame Lena Dunham for our society's rot.

The unique misfortune of the Palestinian refugees is that they are a weapon in what seems to be a permanent war...today, in the Middle East, you get a repeated sinking sensation about the Palestinian refugees: they are only a beginning, not an end. Their function is to hang around and be constantly useful as a goad. The ultimate aim is not such humane small potatoes as repatriating refugees.

and a brief period of being friends w Russia plus leaving Europe in a cloud of smoke. Hitler more genocidal but that had more to do with the passage of time and development of technology of ideas.

Did Napoleon plan a "final solution" regarding any national or ethnic group?

Napoleon gave us the Napoleonic Code, Hitler gave us the Nuremberg Laws. Go figure.
