I've never made it any secret that hippie-type liberals get on my nerves...but theres nothing I can't stand more then annoying conservatives. I'm talking mostly about my college classes...there's this conservative who constantly interrupts my professor, has a major attitude with anybody that disagrees with him, wears a suit and tie to class every day...he's just a complete arrogant ass hole. I've noticed this out of other conservatives too. They come to college and just think the world is out to get them and they are extremely reactionary and arrogant to anybody that tries to debate them.

Now to be fair, I have noticed liberals like this too. But they usually outclass the conservatives in debate and tend to be less arrogant.

Those Utopian liberals who live in an alternate world where every one loves peace and there is no hate or danger or terrosrism get on my nerves.

They want to sit down, smoke a bong, listen to some bongos and spoken word at a coffe house, and read the "news" in the New York Times and then complain  about how George W. Bush is Hitler and Stalin wasn;t that bad of a guy because he was a Communist.

I don't know anybody like that. I'm kinda close --- I do smoke weed (although rarely anymore) and go to Starbucks and read the NYT.

Ideologically, as someone who is a Republican and therefore closer to the far-right in terms of beliefs, the far-left liberals annoy me more. Not too say the far-right doesn't get on my nerves, because they do.

They both annoy me, but the difference is that center-left annoys me and the center-right doesn't.

It depends on what you mean by "far-right" and "far-left."

If you mean a Barbara Boxer vs. Rick Santorum kind of thing, the far-left bothers me less but both bother me.

If you mean an Al Sharpton vs. Jerry Falwell kind of thing, the far-left still bothers me less.

If you mean a right-wing Christian vs. a Migrendel-style socialist, right-wing Christian. Post-birth abortion...guffaw.

If you mean facism vs. communism, there is no difference in horribleness. Communism eventually devolves into facism anyway; at least it does not start out this way. Both are equally horrible.

Conservatives at my college did this too. It's not just your imagination.

I'd say both, but moreso the right (no surprise).  I'll start with the left.  KeystonePhil, this is one of the few areas I think we agree on.  Sometimes I come across these far-leftie MTV watching suburbanites that think Mumia should be free and things like Section 8 and welfare should be doled out freely.  Mind you I am not for elimination of either, but some people on these programs abuse these priviledges yet these spoiled suburbanites have the nerve to call me insensitive or racist for speaking my mind on these issues.

Now onto the right..  I'll state my annoyances with both the "Club for Growthers" and the self-righteous "black and white" Catholics that think abortion and gay marriage are the only important issues then shove their views down your throat.  Danwxman, I know exactly what you're talking about with college conservatives.  I was a business major myself, so I know firsthand.  These are the type of people that will shoot down any thoughts other than Reaganomics and outright exploitation of workers.  Now the professors knew that students with different value systems were in front of them in class so they encouraged debate from all sides (at least at Temple).  However students from some of these upper middle class and wealthy backgrounds wanted to hear none of it.  Some of these kids sounded like spolied rotten brats that cared only about themselves ("Oh, if my daddy can make millions by exploiting Cambodians, then tough sh**t for them and American workers, hehehe").  Now on to the self-righteous Catholics.  These are the type of people who wear their Catholicism on their sleeves and think nothing of it to force it down other people's throats and if you don't think like them, you are an awful person.  Believe me, carrying the pro-choice banner as an Irish Catholic(?) male in Northeast Philadelphia can be difficult at times.  I know a very good amount of pro-choice people exist here, but the pro-lifers are far more vocal and get more local (neighborhood) media attention.  Some of these Knights of Columbus/AOH types have made me feel quite awful and are in disbelief that I'm pro-choice and favor gay marriage.

the latte liberal elitist crowd annoys me.  the ones that know everything about everything.

i have an unspoken bond with the hippies.  we have similar lifestyles....oriented on leisure with a  distrust of authority.

the religious right annoys me.  if i want to have kinky, pre-marital sex and gamble all my money away in a drunken stupor, then id like to do so without their idiotic moralizing.

I've little love for ideologues be they liberal or conservative; progressive or reactionary. I prefer politicians to be of a moderate, pragmatic and consensual ilk, who govern in the best interests of the nation

Both the hard-left and the hard-right annoy me because they pander to a relatively narrow base. I find the rabid anti-Christmas secularists as much an abhorance as the 'Talibangelicals'

The far left with its "the world is peaceful" rhetoric, makes me sick.  Then again, some far right bigots who hate jews, catholics, blacks, etc.  are sick also.

The people who piss me off the most are those who cannot recognize that there is good and bad in both parties.

The people who piss me off the 2nd most are the hardcore undereducated portion of the right-wing.  When I meet someone I don't pass judgement on them.  But I'm annoyed by the irony of someone I barely know calling me a "liberal elite" who thinks I'm "better than everyone".  No ... I don't believe that ... but clearly they (the righties who say this) feel they are somehow morally superior.

Yeah. God forbid if someone is a proud Catholic!  Shocked

I love how we're always "forcing" something on someone. I don't like abortion. I don't like gay marriage. I don't like tax hikes. I don't like a government run healthcare program. Stop forcing your agenda on me!

I really do like when liberals talk about their ideas, it's never "forcing an agenda."

We share our views and suddenly we want to make everyone believe it. Give me a break.

You say abortion and gay marriage aren't the only issues. I agree. Now tell those in your party that the jobs issue is not the only issue.

Keystone, you are severely simple minded.  I have no problem with someone being a proud Catholic.  Picking on them would be picking on about 1/2 my own family.  Picking on some of the views of these self-righteous clowns and yes I'm not sparing part of my family from this either.  Most of these "pro-lifers" are delusional 50, 60, and 70 something white males that got married at 20 so they feel they can be pricks about other people's sex lives they really have no business in.  Yes, these people are forcing their beleifs on others.

People of any ideology can be annoying, but I find far-right conservatives to be, on average, more annoying.

Let me apologize for not fitting the stereotype of your average teen, Flyers. Sorry I'm not one of these clowns saying "Yeah...pre-marital sex. Cool!" If anything, my friend, I think a whole lot more than most my age.

Given my position on the political spectrum, I find the far right more annoying.  True, left wing loonies have basically ruined the party and taken away whatever electability we've had, but I just find right wing extremists even more annoying.  They blindly follow the rants of conservative commentators, and usually have no idea what the hell they're talking about.  Extreme leftists are the same except at least I agree with them Smiley

I don't really mind either one much. The truly dangerous ideology in America is moderatism. It slows down progress.
