Looks like a wealthy former Republican businessman who is now Indie and who jumped into the race only a while ago.

He's spent a few hundred thousand on ads apparently. Running a centrist campaign, but like Tender said, he's run as a Republican in the state before (funnily enough losing to Alan Keyes in a GOP primary in the 1990s).
