Sponsor: Me

Debate time will last 24 hours.

This is just codifying the advocacy thing I've been doing so that we don't run into any legal trouble.

I really don't like this advocacy thing as it means our legislature does even less work, so I stand opposed.

I think that if people don't care enough about their own bills to speak on their behalf within a resonable amount of time, then there isn't much of a reason to debate the bill. They can always re-introduce it, as Jerseyrules attempted to do with the Capital Must Stay Act.

Perhaps there should be some sort of amendment so that if there are no other bills waiting this requirement would be waived. Also perhaps if at any point there are no bills waiting, previously unadvocated (that might not be a word Wink ) would be used to plug the gap. That would make sure the assembly was as active as possible.

The amendment is friendly.

I have another suggestion: Why not allow sponsors to PM the Speaker and request that the thread be re-opened if they miss the 24-hour window for making their case?

There's only meant to be two slots.  So, if the Speaker brought a bill to the floor in that legislative slot, how would re-open their legislation?  After you finish the bill that was put in that slot?  How long does the window for the sponsor to send a PM last?  Why can't they just re-introduce in the appropriate introduction thread..?

Well, if they've bothered to put it forth, we have a duty to consider its merits.

You're not a Representative anymore. ICE will be picking you up shortly.

With three ayes and one nay, the amendment passes.
