Tonko (D)- 50%
Dieterich (R)- 31%

Obama- 53%
Romney- 33%

There seemed to be some push-polling done here. 54% would be inclined to re-elected Tonko, but before the actual matchup question, respondents were read a biography of Dieterich. Whatever. Safe D.

No Republican would ever win this district unless most of Albany county was cut out of it.  More than half of the district's vote comes from Albany county, which is by far the most Democratic Upstate county.  Even Mario Cuomo won it in 1994 when he was getting clobbered two to one in most of Upstate.  Throw in Schenectady, Troy, Saratoga Springs, and Amsterdam and that makes it even tougher for Republicans.  The only county they regularly carry here is Schoharie, which makes up less than 5% of the district's votes.
