A poll for a newspaper that says on their website: "News for Republicans, by Republicans".

Nice.

Prime example of the sort of polls that I do not use:

1. Interactive polls

2. Internal polls by candidates

3. Polls taken by special-interest groups

4. Polls by specious pollsters

5. Polls by political parties, unions, and ethnic associations.

I'll be waiting for the unskewed version of this poll.

If you read the article, they basically all but admit that the poll was designed to produce a Romney lead.

"The major difference between the polls could be attributed to the political make up of the sample.  Public Policy Polling’s Iowa sample was comprised of 37 percent-identified Democrats, 33 percent of identified Republicans, and 27 percent of identified independent or no-party voters.  The TIR/VCR poll was comprised of 36 percent registered Republicans, 35 percent registered Democrats, and 30 percent no-party voters."

not a scandal to have a R+1 sample.

There is an irony in that Republicans are lambasting polls for actively weighting when the only polls that seem to be actively weighting for party ID are the Republican polls

Your mistake is to presume these people are trying to make sense...
