Todd Akin wouldn't agree to filibuster any bills. He's spoken with several political scientists and they have assured him that when Democrats propose socialist legislation, the Congress has natural mechanisms to shut that down.

She's a woman. As long as women are the minority by a long shot in politics (and especially in the GOP), they'll automatically be more interesting than generic male politicians.
