I've never heard of such talks and I highly doubt that there are people who realistically think that a merger of these two very distinctly different parties is worth striving for. We could as well switch to a single-party state in this case.

I agree. While I have heard whispers of such, I believe them to be fibber seeds planted for facetious blossoms.

I would imagine such an abomination would be likely to result in multiple parties, as the far-righties of the Federalist Party and the center-lefties in the Liberal Party reject one another - maybe leaving a centrist party comparable in size to the Liberal Party currently - along with the right seeing the creation of a small, hardline faction. Ideology would be even further blurred, giving certain parties with a less rigid ideological construct (TPP, A-M, maybe even JEP) an advantage in the potential chaos. Or so I speculate. Tongue

In the event that the two hosts didn't reject one another, I imagine the rest of Atlasia would be united in defeating such an unholy chimera.

If anything, Labour and the Liberals should merge. We had as many voters as the Federalists (and fewer candidates to split between) and still ended up with one seat to the Federalists' three.

A Labour/Liberal merger would be awful, it'd basically undo the Great Dissolution and mean only The People stood between the game and terminal decline. Wink

The only inaccuracy is that I am a sitting Assemblyman, not a candidate at his time. However, you should accept your accolades for unearthing this piece of information. Napoleon's instability and vulgar behavior must be exposed to the general public... Tongue

Completely misleading.  Our party simply exists to promote an atmosphere of tolerance and compassion in this drama-filled game, not to bring back a two-party system.

The Atlasian Post Exclusive
INTERVIEW WITH SENATOR X

What role did Napoleon have, if any, in your decision?

President Napoleon definitely had an impact, but it was an indirect one.  I haven't had a problems with the President the way some Atlasians have or claim to have had (depending on who you believe).  However, I do feel like (whether he intends it or not) the Liberal Party is at risk of becoming the Napoleon Party (and already has in the minds of many voters), but such is the danger of personality politics.  So while President Napoleon didn't make me want to leave, the personality politics regarding the President definitely influenced my decision.

How would you rate the president's performance?

If you had asked me this a month ago I probably would've rated it very poorly.  However, I do think President Napoleon has been much more cooperative lately and I think the situation has improved.  That said, I can't ignore everything that came before the past few weeks.  Overall, I'd say it would've been better both for the President, the Liberal Party, and Atlasia if he had limited himself to just one term, with all due respect to the President.  Overall, I'd say the second term has been a 4.5/10 taking into account the recent improvement (but he could get it up to a 5 or 5.5).

You spoke about more competitive elections- how do you feel about the broad Marokai-Duke ticket in that case?

While the Marokai/Duke ticket has many good ideas and has my enthusiastic support, I strongly disagree with Marokai Blue's claim that competition is responsible for ugly side of Altasian politics.  I'd argue the biggest problem is personality-driven politics/individual-centric personality cults.

What specific elements of the Phil-Tmth ticket did you not feel able to support?

Keystone Phil would likely be a very conservative President if elected and I also feel that the Marokai/Duke ticket was much more closely aligned with what the Liberal Party was supposed to stand for than the Phil/Tmth ticket.

Speaking of Tmth, you are a citizen of the Mideast. How would you rate your governor's performance?

Well, now you'll get a scoop Wink  I think that when looking at Governor Tmthforu94's performance you have to divide it into the time before the TPP-Liberal-Labor coalition won a supermajority and the time after it won a super-majority.  Prior to the victory, Governor Tmthforu94 had done a phenomenal job as Governor.  No complaints whatsoever, 10/10 (I thought he'd make a great President).  Afterward, however, something changed and whether the Governor or the left-leaning super majority was responsible depends on who you believe.  The behind-the-scenes dealings took on an increasingly nasty tone and personality politics began to rear its ugly head.  While the far-left elements in the supermajority definitely wasn't blameless in this by a long-shot, as someone with first-hand knowledge of what happened, I feel confident in saying that the bulk of these events were the result of actions taken by the Governor.

Governor Tmthforu94's commitment to the game is admirable and he has done a great deal of good, but there is a dark side to his persona that is well-known but never spoken of.  I think that his approvals are low because The People are upset about both his tactics and style, but afraid to say anything because they don't want him to retaliate the next time they run for office (I've heard him referred to as "Boss Tmth" or "Tmanny Hall" by folks wishing to remain anonymous Tongue ).  The Governor isn't a bad guy or anything, but there is a flip-side to the friendly, good-natured part of his persona.  Again, no one says anything because they're afraid of his supporters (some of whom are unbelievably dedicated) and there is a personality politics element to his machine.  That being said, he is also a skilled politician and I am pretty confident he'd have been elected and reelected even without the personality politics component.  Honestly though, part of why I'm being so blunt about this is that he has a right to know what The People are really thinking and it does need to be said.  I'm sure there will be some blowback to this answer, but I always say what mean and mean what I say Smiley  At this point I'd give him a 3.5/10 post-supermajority.  Overall, a 5/10.

Shall we see any particular changes is your approach to government, or political opinions?

Nope Smiley  I intend to keep doing what I've always done throughout my political career: championing the interests of The People and governing as a principled pragmatist while still staying true to my progressive values.

The Party is somewhere free of drama. I can assure you, our members want no part in what is going on between the Liberals and Federalists and whoever else or whatever else. That is their matter to solve. Forming a JCP to prove a point may be dangerous..

Bringing back the name JCP alone is a cause of concern for many of us, because it could quickly accelerate into someone bring back The New RPP and, well, we just wasted a year for naught. Tongue
