I think every Dem knows Romney won this debate. Too bad for him he very well might meet the same fate as Kerry, the type of election we've expected all along.

If Romney ends up closing the gap and winning, this forum after election day is going to be wildly entertaining. Literally the only Romney supporters we have here are like a gay atheist lawyer who smokes pot, a couple of fifteen years olds, and a few trolls. Versus literally everyone else. An absolutely insane dynamic.

Has anyone else looked at the internals of this poll?
Some groups missing from the internals because they were too small for crosstab analysis (which means less than 68 generally speaking, per group):
-Liberals
-People under
50
years of age
-People who didn't go to college
-Non-Whites
-Northeastern, Western, and Midwestern residents
However, the clearest red flag is that, pre debate, Romney had a 54% favorable rating, five points higher than Obama's pre debate rating (49%)... that seems like a pretty clear outlier.
Now, I'm not saying Obama won the debate... I personally think he got his ass kicked. I will say that this poll seems likely to overestimate the ass-kicking.

This thread is unnecessary and should be deleted. This was already posted several times in the actual debate thread.

Unfortunately for Romney, the unfavorable/favorable numbers for both candidates stayed the same. What some Romney supporters are missing is that some in the poll being honest about the debate outcome does not necessarily equal a whole lot of change in opinion. Much of the vote is locked in right now.

This is the key question: What actual effect will it have on the numbers? The key determinative of that is what kind of sustainable momentum this creates for Romney to counteract the narrative of his being a near-sure loser in November. The jobs report may have an effect here. If the numbers are perceived as good for Obama, that will likely staunch any serious effect on the numbers. If the numbers are poor or even just middling, that may very well add fuel to the spark Romney lit last night.
Regardless it seems Romney accomplished mission #1: Proved that at least for now, the race isn't over yet. Obama must be kicking himself this morning; all he needed was a perceived tie and the election would've been essentially over as of this morning barring mega-gaffe/crisis/deus ex machina.

Those same pundits, if they are old enough, voted for McGovern, Carter, Mondale and Dukakis, so you're not saying much...

Ah, where are those post debate numbers?
I will agree that we have to wait to see the effect. I don't expect Romney 67%, Obama 25% in any head to head poll.
