So pretty much every morning I run into the same situation.  I'm car A.  There is a line cars coming  from the C spot, most of which are turning onto the same road I'm on.  There is often a line of cars at the B spot as well.  When there is a line of cars at the B spot, it's hard to pull out.  Some people just go, because they can.  I don't, even though I'm normally a fairly aggressive driver.   It seems wrong (because it is) and dangerous (because it can be).  Am I being a pussy?

I wouldn't do it.

That would be a good place for a roundabout, I think, considering the problems you describe.

yes, your desire to avoid smashing your metal cage into other metal cages clearly illustrates your desire to have sex with men.

Indeed.....or at least an extra stop sign or two.  But they probably won't because the intersection is only a cluster a few hours a day.  Plus Americans are often confused by roundabouts, I love 'em.  Alton has that small one at central and college, but my favorite was that big one in N.St.Louis.

Oh God. I mean proper roundabouts! The one in Alton is alright, but the one in St. Louis (you mean going down 367 right behind the city limit, right?) is just pure chaos.

At a T intersection, the drivers on the straightaway always have the right-of-way, so you're in the clear to stay where you are until the situation clears.

In that case, keep doing what you've been doing, since B has the right-of-way.  Plus I hate people who go in front of me when I have the right of way. Wink

If the B/C road is the main road, you have to wait anyway until all the cars have either passed or turned into your street. Only if the road is clear or the cars are somewhat far away you can drive out of your street and turn into the main street. This situation can sometimes be dangerous/annoying for driving beginners here in Europe when you are using a manual car and not an automatic one. Because if you are car A and want to drive out on the main street with a lot of traffic and you are a beginner the motor can die off in the middle of the main road which would cause the line of B cars to honk around. Happened to me at a crossing once when I started to drive. Of course many of you Americans won't know what "motor dies off" means ... Tongue

Anyway, this would be a good place for a roundabout or a traffic light system. But I can see how it is annoying when there's a lot of traffic on the main road and cars piling up behind you ... Wink

They should put stop signs in the intersection, but yes B has the right of way.

Oh lord.  And you give me a hard time about stereotyping Asians?

Dead0man, the normal practice over here would be to just creep out slowly until everything was tangled and people had no choice to let you go or just get stuck.  My personal choice would be to drive something like this:

And just go!
