http://politicalwire.com/archives/2012/10/10/lawmaker_says_some_girls_rape_easy.html

Minnesota state Rep. Roger Rivard (R) "is drawing heat for saying that his father had told him when he was young that 'some girls rape easy' as a way to warn him that a woman could agree to sex but then later claim that it wasn't consensual," the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Said Rivard: "He also told me one thing, 'If you do (have premarital sex), just remember, consensual sex can turn into rape in an awful hurry.' Because all of a sudden a young lady gets pregnant and the parents are madder than a wet hen and she's not going to say, 'Oh, yeah, I was part of the program.' All that she has to say or the parents have to say is it was rape because she's underage. And he just said, 'Remember, Roger, if you go down that road, some girls,' he said, 'they rape so easy.'"

The fact that so many gross statements about rape are coming almost exclusively from one side of the spectrum is no coincidence. It's not about bad people, it's about bad policies that attract bad people.

I'm not sure if I'd piss on certain Republicans if they were in a fire.

He's from Wisconsin, not here. And I think he might actually be Nhoj's Rep, poor guy. Sad

Indeed he is! This was from December in an interview with a local paper relating to a statutory rape case involving two high school kids.[I actually know the boy in the case a bit hes the son of my dads coworker] it seems no one noticed the comment tell now.

Gotta say, that sounds kinda hot... of course I'm assuming it's just statutory and not actually forcible. Because that's not hot.

EDIT: No, it was just statutory. Full faith and privilege, folks?

This is the sort of thing that in many jurisdictions would fall pretty clearly under close-in-age exceptions, though I would hope not because it's 'hot', whatever that's supposed to indicate in this particular context.

What's the scandal here exactly? This was true when the congressman was young(or at least when his father was young), given the taboo on female promiscuity. Hell it's probably still true in certain subcultures today.

How did the Midwest become such a hot-bed for foaming-at-the-mouth crazies? They may have taken the insanity mantle from the South for this election season.

Lol.  Love the qualification.  Implying in a marriage...

If I were Rivard I would not repeat my father's good advice on the campaign trail.

Because only republicans say stupid things right? Roll Eyes

I don't care what party this guy is (or Todd Akin for that matter...)  he's a loser for saying this.  Any real Pro Lifer would never say things like this.
