I get to appoint people to draft a platform? Power! I have power!

Just in the interest of fairness then, is there anyone else in the party that would like to assist in building a platform?

The Northeast is now TPP-controlled Sad. I might consider moving to the Pacific or Midwest eventually, to pick up activity. Especially the Pacific.

That's a terrible idea! You belong here.

Also it appears that Bacon King is going to be expelled from the Senate. Anybody want to run for the soon to be open seat?

I would be willing to help a bit with the platform. You'd almost certainly need to get more people involved in the process though; my views aren't exactly representative of the party's as a whole!

Like, say, former Senator and Vice-Presidential candidate Redalgo?

I think some votes/polls asking the members on their opinions of different stances would be nice so that the party platform is actually representative of the views of it's members.

I concur completely. It also helped quite a bit in trying to complete the recent constitutional convention in the Midwest. Votes can really be great for helping one establish where the center of a group's balance lies on a broad range of issues.

I suggest we start working with this:

This got me thinking that it would be rather fun to publish a list of core party principles (to be debated and voted on here) that would embody the mission and spirit of the Labor party, but wait until each federal election (or perhaps just presidential elections) to publish our own manifesto - it would be in keeping with the "labor tradition"! Cheesy

I very much like that idea, Barnes. What does everyone else think about that?

Oh and also:

By "core principles", do you mean something like:

Precisely.  We basically have this already, but we should refine them and have a vote on all of them to bring it up-to-date.  Each manifesto would go into great detail (such as the 'UK example) and lay out Labor's plan if elected to government.

Snowball, I propose a compromise. How about we include kittens in a way that is serious? Such as a platform plank supporting laws guaranteeing humane treatment for animals, that includes an appeal to "Think of the kittens!"

If we're going to have kittens, I know a Snowstalker and myself who will be demanding that we have ponies too...

On the serious side, I like the idea of establishing pillars of the Labour party, like 10 pillars on ten essential issues. After that, we could on the long term create a more furnished document with the Party's program of government when elected.
