National Journal has updated their ad spending by state charts and again and for the week ending 10/8 Obama is outspending Romney (roughly) $20.7M vs $16.0M .The list of nine states hasn't changed. Romney is outspending Obama (a little bit) in IA and NC, Obama is outspending Romney in all other states, with the gap over $1M in each of the big three (FL, OH, VA).  RNC is also spending $2.4M and Obama's SuperPAC is spending $3.8M, although they both pay higher rates so their money doesn't go as far.

How do you out raise your opponent for 6 months and still get outspent?

Bear in mind that the Obama campaign has outraised the Romney campaign. But the RNC has out raised the DNC.
