So if anyone remembers, the first one got an 11% on Rotten Tomatoes and basically epic failed at the box office, making everyone suspect that parts II and III would be canned. But somehow the producers manage to raise enough money again including I might add creating a whole new distributor for it (called "Atlas Distribution") probably from right wing investors. Except they still didn't raise enough to be able to get any of the cast to return, so instead they simply recast every single character. Oh and it opens tomorrow and it has earned only a single review. The snippet:

hahahahahah. I'm actually looking forward to the reviews on this one. Hell it's making me hope Part III gets made after all so I can laugh at the reviews some more.

Will this one even break double digits on the Tomatometer?

OK the trailer is a tad better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AF9QT43uDQU

It's a bit more exciting looking and at first looks like some type of relatively low budget sci-fi movie, the production values of the first one were laughably terrible. Of course they had to recast the protagonist who is supposed to be some type of young upstart with someone who is not only over 40 but definitely looks it too (when she was was 27 in the first movie.) This one might not epic fail box office was as badly, though I'm sure the reviews will be good for a laugh.

God, I hope they make Part III. It would be a two-hour long speech and it would be the most hilarious movie ever made.

Well the reviews and reaction to it would be hilarious yes. The movie itself would be about as funny and entertaining as staring at a blank wall for two hours.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at. Obviously actually watching the thing would be a boring disaster, but the idea of someone making a movie that's just a two-hour speech is absurd and hilarious.

For all their belief in the supremacy of the market, these Objectivists are ignoring it surprisingly well.

I'm glad to see they cast Leland Palmer as the President. Will BOB be making a special appearance?

I fell asleep during most of Part I. That said, these movies have their niche of followers from whom they can potentially earn a profit. The movies need not have mass appeal to be a success. If, on the other hand, the movie is a failure, its not like the producers are going to get the government to bail them out. Failure is an essential component of capitalism.

The comments on the AV Club review are great; four pages in, the Libertarian candidate for DC congressional delegate comes in and starts ranting about (among other things) how our tertiary education system needs to be replaced with for-profit online schools.

Still at 0%. Only 15 reviews are in, but granted, if you only get that many opening weekend you probably aren't getting much more.
