The Democrats should have given Joe Sestak another try.

I really dont see Smith winning here unless Romney surprisingly wins the state.  I pretty much see this being like the Bunning-Mongiardo race in 2004 where the incumbent surprisingly wins only by 51%-49% and is saved only because of the top of the ticket.

If this ends up being as close as Bunning-Mongiardo, that's incredibly embarrassing for Casey.

That's what happens when you take seats for granted.

Democrats should have learned this in January 2010.

Casey's never been anywhere near 50%, so this isn't that shocking. What is shocking is that it's against Smith, a horrendous candidate.

Casey is actually fairly liberal other than his position on abortion. He's just uncharismatic and a poor campaigner. He better not screw this up.

Casey is finished politically. He won't even be able to become Governor now. His numbers have been wrecked because he is a lazy bastard. No way he even makes it out of a primary should he run for Governor.

Yeah but this is a big deal. He called "the Tea Party ad" stupid. That is going to diminish the ad's credibility.

That's what I thought, but I was running to class so I couldn't check. Doesn't he have some kind of connection to the State College area as well?

Aside from whatever connections he has as a statewide official? No. You're probably thinking of Santorum.
