Senator you have 24 hours to post a substantive advocacy for this.

I'm happy to offer this extension of the nanny state.

Sugary drinks massively contribute to our obesity problem, and the difference between even a 1 liter mega-jug and two of them is a significant difference... Added alcoholic beverages less for obesity (although they are high calorie too), but more to make this fair and for practical public safety reasons.

Whether you support this, depends on how confident you are in the citizens' responsibility. The status quo speaks clearly, though, and I don't think obesity will solve itself. Many simply aren't responsible enough.

This is a small...perhaps insignificant step in the grand scheme of things , but I think it's a good idea.

This is an issue that I think should be decided at the regional level, not the federal government.

I'd recommend at least providing a clause allowing for regions to opt out of this if they chose to.

What's the point of passing anything if anyone is free to opt out?

If we don't make it obligatory, then some kind of penalty has to exist for opting out (like the way the federal government blackmails states on the drinking age in real life).

I'd also prefer that this issue be left to regional and local governments to decide, but I am against the banning of what would essentially be a victimless crime that would likely hurt business rather than promote healthy eating habits.  Thus, I am against this.

As a concerned citizen who was able to sneak past congressional security, I urge the Senate to oppose this highly intrusive nanny state regulation.

I think the idea of regional opt-outs for something like this are completely silly, but Regions are in luck either way, because I don't think there's a way I could vote in support of this. I'm not necessarily opposed to restricting very large sugary drinks instead of this, but this seems too far.

As someone who recalls the horrors of not having refills in France, I cannot support this.

I certainly appreciate the intentions, and would welcome alternative solutions but right now...

There is no way I will support this bill.

If my sarcastic remark in the protest and analysis thread wasn't enough. I oppose regulating this at the Federal level and would also oppose such a restriction on commerce and personal choice at the back end.

A better way to do this, would be to levy a higher tax on subsequent drinks and put the money towards preventative health care, education about the dangers of obesity and ways to stay healthy, and funding unpaid for emergency care (RL, since Fritzcare theoretically eliminates that problem).

As a concerned citizen who was able to sneak past congressional security, I urge the Senate to oppose this highly intrusive nanny state regulation.

SECURITY!!!!

Just kidding, discussions are open to all as long as it respectfull. Voting and decision making is restricting to members only.

By all means, feel free to offer an amendment as a substitute.
