I say no. It seems anyone who is "cool" doesn't support Mitt Romney (not saying they necessarily support Obama though)

I go to the University of Florida, and I can tell you the greek system here is strongly for Romney. I'm vocal about my support for Obama, but I'm probably one of the very few in my fraternity that supports him.

So in my case, if you're a member of a fraternity or sorority, chances are Romney is the "cool" option.

Nope since large numbers of young voters or even just young people not voting are very Liberal and would vote Obama over Romney any day.

Here in Seattle, its not the "cool" option. There are cool people supporting both candidates, but if someone didn't know me well but knew I supported Romney, they'd probably think a little less of me.

Of course Romney is going to be popular among the frat bro demographic. He's such a pimp, he doesn't just have a little black book- he has entire binders full of women.

No offense, but isn't a fraternity the antithesis of 'cool'?  And a sorority is even worse.

Fraternities and sororities are cultish... which is creepy, really.

Yes.  In fact the types that support Obama/dems are increasingly uncool every year.  I coach a High School sports team and 9 of the 10 coolest kids are Romney supporters.  The Obama kid only is cool because he is funny and good at making fun of himself like a clown.  It's hard to like someone who's super serious about supporting BO because typically they have no logical basis to do so.

The serious case for Obama is that his government spending/hiring is the only thing keeping unemployment out of the teens and GDP growth positive right now.  Unfortunately for him, it's a challenging and very hypothetical case to make.  Hence the repeated warnings about going back to Bush policies.

If you think I'm cool, then yes.  But I guess it depends on where you are.  I live in a heavily Republican community and thus fit in well politically with those around me, and most of my peers seem to think that I'm pretty cool.  Granted, it's almost always "cooler" and more popular to be a Democrat than a Republican because Democrats have done such a good job of controlling the terms of debate over the past 80 years and portraying Republicans as greedy, stingy ("the party of the rich"), uncaring, racist, sexist, etc. (you name it, they've used it).  Although as a conservative Republican, I must admit that the states that I consider "cool" tend to be more liberal than the "uncool" states.

That is somewhat logical, but
1) Most people aren't that coherent in forming a rational for BO.
2) Under basic examination that line breaks down and becomes extremely hard to defend, at which point illogical things inevitably come out in an emotional torrent.

I'm not sure what your point is.  "Only rich people are Republicans?"
Dems are the party of the super rich and powerful and they try to "buy" the cheapest/easiest votes they can in order to keep/use power to preserve/improve their power structure.
That being the case, I can't make out your point.

Well, Obama blew it by not setting up a "1930's" narrative in winter 2009.  The baseline economic scenario on that famous stimulus graph should have been super pessimistic with U3 rising to 14-16% and staying there until 2020.  Had he done that, this race would be looking a lot more like 1936 than 2004 right now.

it's possible, at least in the abstract.

the supercool would support people like Stein or Johnson or Rocky, of course.  Fonzie, for example, is probably a Libertarian.  I can't see him supporting a major party candidate.  Che Guevara would lay waste to the major party candidates in scathing, inflammatory speeches.  Mark Twain would probably make fun of both of them continuously in biting, satirical articles.

But there are a handful of cool people who support Romney (Captain Kirk, maybe), and a few who support Obama, for that matter (Charlotte Brontė, and maybe John Lennon).  Mostly cool people wouldn't support Romney/Obama, but I wouldn't preclude the mere possibility.

The point is obvious - it is rational for the non-rich to vote Democratic (or socialist if only they had that option).  It is only logical for the rich to vote Republican.
