I saw 12 Years A Slave last week. Great film, but man was it brutal.

The Lego Movie

I enjoyed it a lot, though probably would've more had I not heard all the reviews and hype first. It's just a fun 100 minutes.

Saw Dallas Buyers Club last weekend.
Was a really intense movie, but totally worth to watch.

They never showed that, we might never be sure.

Dazed and Confused

Certainly the best movie about teenagers I've ever seen.

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)

The most Wes Anderson Wes Anderson film yet. I liked it but I can't say I loved it. So like the rest of Anderson's work then...

Captain Phillips - Pretty solid movie, although not quite Best Picture-worthy (obviously). Tom Hanks delivers a strong performance as always.

300: Rise of and Empire - Dumb movie, although it did make me want to f**k Eva Green. Which is probably the whole purpose of the film anyway.

I can't say that surprises me, but still that analysis makes me want to go see it.

The aspect ratio thing seems a little much.

You are the third person I know who has watched the Silence of the Lambs for the first time this week. I have seen bits and pieces on TV before, but never the full movie.

Under the Skin (2013)

Ok, many thoughts:
1) Good if overlush photography and editing (check out the sequence where she's struggling to walk down a spiral staircase... it's feels exactly like that)
2) Some of the scenes here I found down right terrifying especially, well, the bit in the primordial goo... (if that's what you call it. No, I'm not explaining it)
3) There's a scene in this movie, which involves a child, that almost got me into fits of outrage. Like 'That's just wrong'. I'm glad I didn't
4) Overall I really don't what to make of it - even if I liked it or not. I did enjoy it - even if found some scenes far too cringey to watch (in a good way). It was certainly creeping into borderline misogyny (at least) in places although perhaps leaping into that misogyny that is really a type of - oh, I guess I have to use this word, won't I? - misandry (I apologize). There was also a predictability to the whole thing although this might have ruined by reading a terrible and spoiler-filled review before hand by an awful critic. But even, despite that, it wasn't - especially in its last (weakest) 40 minutes - all that weird despite the comments of some reviews.
5) Scarlett Johansson was great
6) I wonder why did they choose Glasgow of all places to shoot? Probably to do with the location (believable to end this story where it does) but they do capture the city, I think.
7) I preferred Birth - I think

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Really great. Quite possibly the best Marvel Studios movie yet. So much better than the terrible Iron Man 3 and the entertaining but goofy Thor: The Dark World.

Woman in the Dunes (1964)

Highly, highly recommended. Even though dated in some aspects (the ending was obvious from miles away). Would make a good companion piece to Knife in the Water

Forrest Gump (1994)

Believe it or not, it was my first time, and I loved it.  I know now why it's such a classic.
