Wow, 300+.  Did any of you expect Obama to get any of the military vote?

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

Of course officers are strongly Republican. Officers tend towards authoritarian conservatism in pretty much every country that has it as a viable political option. Am I supposed to be impressed?

I'm not surprised of course there are more republicans in the military, I served and know how my peers felt politically. However I don't ever remember those kind of numbers getting behind Bush publicly, maybe they did, just thought it interesting.

Hey, all these guys are assured some nice consulting and TV gigs when a President Romney commences an Iranian war....  Kidding about the ulterior motives of the retired officers but still very concerned about the potential course of foreign policy under Mitt.

Wow, that's nearly five percent of living retired generals in the United States. Yay, Romney!

I don't know, I have no reason to not believe you.  Sounded like a large number, I don't remember that many coming out publicly before.

I was guessing; I knew that we had at least several thousand of them. This 2006 Slate article cites an estimate of 4,700 living retired generals. If we assume that today's number is about the same (I'd be willing to bet that it's higher), 300 generals would be just over 6% of the total.

I guess they're really itching for war with Iran.

I'd be more worried about the possibility of the Business Plot Mark II if the differences between the Obama administration and a potential Romney administration were more than decorative.
