Alas no. One of our few blemishes on our record. However my city almost certainly did, so I'm not too upset.

Nope. Santa Clara was solidly Republican back then.

Nope -according to this interesting document here that tallies up election totals in the county for every election from 1920 to 2011, we stuck with Nixon who had a 13,000 vote margin in the county over George McGovern.

Lancaster voted Democratic once in the 20th century, for Johnson. Nixon got >70% here.

McGovern almost certainly won Chicago, but Nixon presumably won Cook as a whole for two reasons:

1. He did really well, even for a Republican, in the suburbs.
2. White Central/Eastern European Catholics, as you know, bolted the "Amnesty, Acid, and Abortion" candidate. Most of them have actually returned to the Democrats.

Nope. Montco was won by the Republican candidate every Presidential election from 1968 until 1988.

Not even close. Not sure if many blacks supported Nixon or didn't bother to vote or both because the Shelby County result is ridiculous. Of the 5 TN counties that McGovern won, Obama only won 2. One by 70 votes and the other by 39 votes Tongue
