No Nickelback is actually a really bad band

Not really, no. They aren't exactly the height of creativity or anything, but to say they're worse than painfully mediocre is ridiculous. The members of Nickelback are all very talented (especially their drummer, and Kroeger isn't a bad vocalist), and they put on a very entertaining live show. Even in the genre of "dumb male rock", Nickelback is miles better than other bands such as Hinder, Theory of a Deadman, or My Darkest Days. They get the most attention because they sell the best (they're basically the best-selling current rock band) and because they broke out before the others in their genre. They excel at being a provactive-but-not-overly-so band with good, driving songs that occassionally throws in slower, sappier songs; they really have elements that appeal to wide and varying swaths of the casual music listening populace. I'd certainly rather listen to them than the vast majority of dance-pop-hip-hop excrema that dominates the radio today.

I think Nickelback is average (they suck now), but I do like Hinder, My Darkest Days, and Theory of a Deadman. Heck Theory of a Deadman is the greatest out them. They make great funny and deep lyrics.
