I'm opposed to this until we get a budget passed.  Let's balance the budget and then get to adding more spending.

In terms of government spending, $18 million is really a drop in the bucket and this a good bill with few (if any) real drawbacks.  With all due respect to Speaker Inks and Assemblyman RP2012, I think we all know that this bill is not going to keep us from balancing the budget.

I fully support this passage of this act, and encourage all my fellow Assemblymen to do so as well. Immigrants are an invaluable contribution to the Mideast's future, and have shaped the history of Atlasia itself. This bill, at little relative cost to taxpaying citizens, will establish centers that will improve the economic and cultural fabric of our region by facilitating the full integration of many first-generation immigrants into society.

But what is the harm in waiting until after the budget is passed?

There is no reason to do so.  What is the harm of not waiting when we all know that this will not determine whether or not we are able to balance the budget.

Are you willing to support the bill if the budget is passed first?

There isn't any reason to wait though since the bill already has majority support.  This is $18 million not $18 billion.  Also, the bill already got defeated once, we shouldn't waste this opportunity to pass it.

I agree, but I wanted to clarify whether the Speaker would support the bill in that event- or if he opposes it even in that circumstance.

As I feel that it is unnecessary, since we do not need to say what we have not said, I introduce the following amendment:

I support Clause 1 of Section 1 because I think it's important to have in writing that Enlgish is not the offical language of the Mideast.

It would make it know that the Mideast is accepting to people of all cultures and backgrounds.

The statement that there is no regional language hardly accomplishes that.  Are we to be assumed that we are not accepting if that is not in the bill?

Seeing no further debate, voting on the amendment is now open.  Members will vote AYE, NAY, or ABSTAIN.  This will be a 24-hour vote.
