Which of course means that Jan Ullrich gets like half of his titles. Brilliant, UCI. Roll Eyes

No, they don't give the titles to the seconds of all the races. These races just stay without winner. At least that's what I heard last.

^^^^^^, that's the most likely outcome.

Can't say I really object to this. Armstrong cheated and was always a bit of a cock about it. Also good to see Johan Bruyneel's career is effectively over.

But literally everyone else cheated to the same extent (and the ethics guys for the Tour de France admit it), so it's a level playing field again.

Actually Armstrong/Bruyneel cheated quite a bit more than any of his competitors.

Happened to Landis and Contador IIRC.

More or better?  Either way, "he cheated more than me" is always funny to hear.

Nah, even in the 90s, where doping was at its maximum, there were some clean riders in the Tour (ie riders that noone has ever suspcted of doping), and in the Armstrong-era where was quite a large number of them, so that's not a valid argument.
Its true that you probably couldn't find clean riders in the top 10 in 1999-2005, but that doesn't change the fact, that several other riders would have been competitive if those guys hadn't cheated.
Basically doping changes the entire sporting hierarchy. There are always riders whose career would have been (much) better if the others hadnt cheated.

Armstrong is clean and thus he won fair and square. He's taken over 500 drug tests and was exonerated every time. This is what happens when a bunch of euros can't stomach that an American beat them on their turf 7 years in a row. He is thus champion. End of story

I see.
At what point do you think the euros infiltrated the US Anti-Doping Agency?
And how did they get so many of Armstrong's non-American team-mates to give evidence against him?
And when do you think they'll turn their attention to Greg LeMond?

It's a shame after the deeply encouraging story we've been treated to for the past decade- of great suffering and great triumph. Greatly demotivating.

Wow, I think this might be dumber than any post I've ever read on the 2012 board. This is quite an accomplishment.

JCL is such a sad individual.

Good, especially if no one's declared the winner in his place.

You know, in light of Armstrong admitting that he repeatedly doped (yet still remaining very popular), I think we should have new categories of professional-level sports: Altered and unaltered sports. Altered sports will let competitors use whatever they want for a competitive, so long as they freely admit that they are altered above human limits. This includes that one guy in the Olympics with the mechanical legs. Unaltered would have comprehensive, frequent, and strict checks to make sure there is no doping, and the penalties for doping/altering oneself even once would be instant disqualification from the event you competed in. This would make things fair, as then dopers could freely compete without having to worry about being caught, and people who don't like doping could enjoy the unaltered sports and legitimately test the limits of human endurance.

The real problem with doping is that's it, you know, dangerous. Just ask Ricardo Rico, Marco Pantani, or, way back, Tom Simpson. That's why a good anti-doping policy also focuses on recreational sports.
