Cheesy

I remember hearing about a study that was done, in the recent past,  to test racially-based fears among the white American population. The participants in the study would be shown certain images (say, a photo of a black man's face) and brain activity would then be measured.

Over 90% of the white participants had increased measurable brain activity in the amygdala (IIRC) when the photos of black people's faces were shown to them.

Can't remember the specific study though. Tongue

Well, I'm sure even a majority of blacks hold prejudices against blacks. I'm reminded from a quote from Cora Daniel's excellent book Ghetto Nation where she describes the feeling of relief upon seeing that the person behind her when walking at night was white. Certainly, it's terrible, but black people carry negative connotations that individuals consider both loathsome and not applicable to them- whether they actually are or not. Do we not remember Dr. Kenneth Clark's tests where black children identified with white dolls more?

This is nothing new.

Covert racism I guess now, rather than overt racism. That's why places like OH and VA may very well vote for a educated ivy leagued black man rather than a black pastor from Illinois or New York who supports racial quotas and affirmative action.  If you aren't supporting policies beneficial to banks and auto unions like Obama u are not be prez or any high ranking offical even in Obama's cabinet.  Look what happen to Junior of the reverand.

I've seen plenty of racist attitudes, particularly against blacks. Not really "let's go lynch them", but lots of negative stereotyping. It's interesting to see the trend being towards more racism, yet not too surprising.

Thankfully a nice chunk of racists will be supporting Obama (since they're interested in their economic survival).
