She will look back 4 years and see how stupid this ad is and be embarassed. So is this Sandra Fluke's younger sister or something?  When you see her speak, people will think of venereal disease clinic.  Absolutely, disgusting, classless and pathetic video.

It's been discussed - it's tongue in cheek, it's funny... Get over it...

I must say I find this kind of rhetoric quite disturbing too. I mean, it doesn't really stand out in a campaign where 95% of ads are childish and destined to idiots, but I'm still not a fan.

And yeah, the similarity with Putin's stuff is disturbing too.

Hey, if it's suppose to be funny, then I don't have a sense of humor.  Maybe it strikes people the wrong way, I don't know.

Bleh. I really hate that stuff like this is okay. We're all expected to be incredibly politically correct about some things, yet openness about sex seems to have no ceiling. I really don't like it. Does absolutely everything have to be about sex appeal and consumer culture? What happened to, you know, values?

Wait, what's making people uncomfortable here?  She mostly rattled off a bunch of stuff about Obama's record .   1950s Jerry Lewis talking about making whoopie was edgier.

I don't mind sexual references when it's in the entertainment arena of movies or tv programs, but when it's related to politcal ads and serious issues on a national level, this advertising is awkward and not the correct format.  It makes more sense if the ad was like 'take a risk, vote for Obama the first time as if you went sky diving or hiked a Mt Everest.  Experience the vibe of feeling good about voting Democrat the first time...' along those lines.

This is an effective ad aimed at a specific demographic which Obama is "courting".

Obama campaign hit a low, this is not how you fight racism!!! It needs to clearly explain how white male Ohioans union and otherwise public sector jobs and lifes are in jeopardy under Mitt Romney's presidency.

In the end... this stuff won't make a difference... good or bad.

It allows people to fret and gnash teeth, but it's busy work.

And then, of course, it would be the argument that "voting for Obama is like taking a risk and your vote is nothing but something to be used to make you feel good".

The type of people likely to get upset by this are the uptight puritan types, who - incredibly - aren't voting for Obama anyway.

Says the guy who posted 4 times.

This ad is a non-issue. Literally nobody will change their vote because of it, and maybe a couple of hundred will turnout for each side that wouldn't've otherwise, if that.

Yes, thank you?! Coming from our President this is distressing. What happened to my posts- did someone delete them?

Also, if Spaniards can get into a BBC-worthy furore over a commercial where a woman orgasms whilst she votes, then a a huge backlash is coming for this commercial.

Give me a break!

Talk about knickers in a twist ... If this changes a person's vote, I'd be startled if they can spell their own name.

This is why I HATE elections... everything gets invested with SO MUCH MORE WEIGHT than it deserves.

gross...Lena Dunham has a tattoo on her shoulder. Nothing more hideous than women displaying  tattoos in areas usually reserved for Hells Angels bikers.

Obama is targeting his hipster asshole base with this. get the hell out of your flea infested east side apartment that's being paid for by your republican father and vote for me!

I watched the video after seeing the faux-outrage and was, um, expecting something more risqué - seriously, that's all?  Huh

The bizarre mix of quaint pearl-clutching puritanism from Simfan and Hagrid and the assorted misogyny from others in this thread is pretty disgusting...

lol at the faux outrage as if some of the chit being put out by the other side isn't actually ten times more "offensive."

Absolutely, disgusting, classless and pathetic video.

and yet you felt compelled to post it.

Actually, I did not hear her saying voting was like having sex, so it was not a simile.  In fact, I didn't hear the word virginity at all, so it wasn't a metaphor.  At best, it was an implied metaphor.

(that said, I'd agree that in the first few seconds it sets itself up as a rubber commercial.  I was waiting for Trojan Man to jump in behind her, unfurl his cape, and take her virginity.)

The only thing really disturbing about it, to me, was that it was for a particular candidate.  If it had not decided to segueway into an Obama commercial, but instead simply encouraged voting, I might have thought it was cute.  It's really rude, in my opinion, to tell people for whom to vote.  But lots of ads and lots of people tell you how to vote every day, so it's nothing unusual.
