How is this remotely controversial?

So voting for Obama will put a "woman in the same physical pain as it is in losing her virginity"?

Because she'll be living in poverty because she won't have a job?

But seriously, opebo and Lief, the mere fact I am extant destroys your logic, does it not?

In what sense?

Well I'm not worried about negroes coming for vulnerable white women, now am I? I am the negro, and I am after white women, however how bad at that I may be.

Obviously not all the opposition to this is racist, but there's certainly a racist undercurrent to a lot of it.
I just think that's a stretch. Most of the furore is what you would deem"prudish" reactions, that's all. Of course, I find it more than justified.

The mere fact that you're extant disproves logic per se.

yeah sheesh.  What do you think simfan, you can discount an analysis just because there is one single person it doesn'tprecisely fit?

Besides, the bow-tied negro social climber is a type I have long since accounted for in the opebo scheme, despite its rarity.

Btw, have you seen this movie?  That's you on the left:

Single women want Barry Obama as their boyfriend, get it?

They want to have the sex with the Barry because he is younger than Mitt, and is hot with his shirt off, and has a nice big smile.

That's not all that big.  Let's face it.

Regardless of your feelings on sexual innuendo; what does it say about the Obama campaign when these lame attempts at being hip are the best they have 10 days away from election day? Team O has clearly run out of dead horses to beat.

No, it shows they're confident and not afraid to play around a bit.  They've got it in the bag, and they're not afraid to make fun of the white racists on the other side.

Impressive cognitive dissonance there. I seem to recall you saying the same thing (but in a decidedly more positive tone) about Paul Ryan.

I'm still laughing at opebo's last post, but I want to add that, having now watched the clip, I'm not a fan of the ad either. No, I'm not about to come down with a case of the vapors because a woman talks about sex without feeling shame. But I think that this article from The Nation is on to something:

Look, nobody here us defending the quality if the ad. The point is, whether good or bad in execution, it's not controversial.

That talk of "the rational act of voting" is a joke, too.  Very few vote in their own interests.

Also, I think this is relevant in parsing this ad, that perhaps this ad marks the beginning of the period I refer to- which I deem coterminous with a self-waged "War on Whites".

I would not contend that the primarily white far left, as is sadly prevalent here, does not hold a degree of self-resentment and wishes to engage in a morbid self-flagellation through things like condoning gang culture, single motherhood, affirmative action, historical revisionism, anti-Westernism, Native American and/or Latino nationalism, etc, etc.

These sort of things might be construed as a "war on whites" as a whole, yes. But are Barack Obama or the mainstream Democratic Party engaging in such efforts? I don't think so- not yet, at least.

When the younger left that holds these views comes into the political sphere, more Lena Dunhams and Lincoln Restlers and Occupiers come of age, then yes, I think we can say such a thing is happening. I have good friends, great people, great arguers, but their politics are just mortifying.

Today's politicians, shall find themselves asked whether or not they are "with" this latest bout of progressivism. Being as they are, most will likely say yes- lest they find themselves derided as "reactionary". (With the Soviet Union and its brutal reality fading into the pages of history, I think this latest generation is less afraid to find Marxian thought valid and use its terminology)

Just look at Jimmy Carter's contortions, for one thing. Does anyone truly believe this Georgia Democrat could have ever endorsed 'homosexual marriage"? Likewise, we shall one day see Barack Obama endorse the latest left-wing fad.

So does this make me racist? Well, we've had this discussion before.

Perhaps Mittens should counter with an ad comparing young people's first time voting for Obama with the regret some people feel after the letdown that is your first time. Tongue

This ad is not pathetic or ineffective. It may not reach you, but that doesn't mean it won't read as authentic to its audience.

If you need a reality check, recall this gem from the 2008 Dem primary. THIS is the web ad equivalent of Mitt Romney singing Who Let the Dogs Out.

Single women only vote for the candidate they are most attracted too.  Paul Ryan's abs will attract a lot of female voters and it seems to be working so far.  Many catholic women find Paul Ryan attractive.  Even male Democrats vote for Obama because they find him attractive, like Chris Matthews and the thrill up his leg.

But this ad is clearly implying that Young Women should want to sleep with Obama as their first time; and it will be just as good as if it were voting for him.  Obama is not a politician, he's a male sex symbol.

Whatever gets you through the night, guy - but this wreaks of desperation. It's almost as if Obama has given up on undecideds and is now pursuing the votes of people who typically write-in Batman.

Wrong - feminism in part sprang up because women were being objectified as sexual objects.  Up until the movement, it's been a common belief throughout most of history that women were cheaters and desperately wanted sex and that's why they needed to be controlled.  The moment they saw another man, they would throw themselves at them...etc.  Have you ever heard the phrase "She wanted it" in defense of a sexual harrassment claim.  The feminism movement was about breaking that stereotype by being successful, career driven, individuals who take strength in their innate abilities, not their gender role.  Lena Dunham is an idiot being an idiot, not a modern female pioneer of the 21st century.

The career driven aspects of feminism had nothing to do with sexuality.  You're basically just projecting your beliefs on sex onto feminism.

The goal of feminism on sexuality is not and never has been to go from being repressed and controlled by men to being repressed and controlled by themselves.  That's a complete nonstarter.  It doesn't matter who is holding the whip if you're still being whipped.

Feminist attacks on porn have always been that the direction was catered to men.  That's what objectification is and that's what a lot of pornography is.  The woman has to be attractive and has to do a multitude of acts, while the man is some fat faceless schlub who gets to sit there and enjoy it.  When feminism went really hard against porn in the late 70s, it was also true that the men took most of the money from porn operations.

Repressive anti-sexual virginity mongering towards women (and men) is another form of objectification, BTW.  The same kind of materialism that goes into this puritan parade can be seen (likely in the same people) who are unholy resistant to paying money for a recycled or used product and throw road rage fits if a shopping cart scratches the paint on their new car.

Exactly.

I was worried I'd have to spend more time in this thread. Its starting to really go down to crazy town in the other sub topics being discussed, so I think I'm going to leave things here.

That's a fair point - but I still prefer GOTV efforts that focus on notions of civic virtue or commitment to a particular set of interests. The heavy emphasis that the Dunham ad places on devotion to a specific candidate disturbs me.

I agree with brittain, this is a good. The thing is everyone who has bashed it who posts on this forum is not in the target audience, young women who are on the fence about voting. Everything Dunham summarized is obvious to people who pay attention to politics already. And what do you expect an ad with Lena Dunham to be like without using her wit in a humorous way? Would you expect her to just stare at the screen and read off his accomplishments?

To sum the situation up, Simfan is a Republican because he desires posh white pussy, and tens of millions of White Males in America are Republicans because Simfan and people like him desire posh white pussy and the Democrats can not be relied on to fry his balls if he so much as makes a move.

I've been saying this all along!  Joe Biden is a handsome older man with real masculinity.  Ryan's pretty damned repulsive, to be honest.
