I think we need to see this Jesus Christ's birth certificate - I'm pretty sure he wasn't born here.

What would happen if a Jesus write in actually won?  He's not constitutionally eligible so would all ballots for him just not count?

He's old enough that he doesn't need to be native-born, just a citizen of the United States at the time the Constitution was adopted.

Actually, votes for Jesus and/or God are counted as Republican votes.

The most impact I can seeing this make is a random faithless elector giving the vote to Jesus.

Banning abortion? Banning gay marriage? That Barack is really conservative.

Why would a faithless elector vote for Christ.  Antichrist perhaps, but not Christ.

While the Jesus as described in the bible would likely be against gay marraige and likely against abortion, what did he talk about more? Abortion and gays or peace, poverty, healing the sick?

I've long thought that Jesus leaned in this direction

The guy in this video reminds me of Paul Ryan, actually.

I do not need to do this. I am voting for one of His followers and chosen representatives on Earth over the follower of a false prophet and false church and his atheist-worshipping running mate.

Hey thanks for the kind words.

Andi Christ is perhaps the most hilariously named real life person I ever encountered.

Just the idea of Jesus Christ costing Mitt Romney the presidency is amusing.

Well, he was born in modern-Israel (not eligible), died before age 35 (not eligible), and hasn't obtained write-in status (not eligible).

Plus he's a socialist, so it's not like he'd have a shot anyway :-P

This ^

also, waste your vote Republicans, waste them. Go ahead.

Much as I would love for this to happen, it won't. Fundies know better than to waste their votes like this.

Ridiculous! Plus many of the people here have already mentioned he isn't eligible to run, because he was born in Israel and died at 33.

Now as for his political positions, he'd probably wouldn't be a big fan of rich people getting tax breaks. Although he never said anything about abortion or gay people so we'll never know about those.

Would this lead to some sort of Carnahan/Ashcroft thing?  Voting for a dead man is kind of counterproductive.

Jesus = socialist. He's the founder of Libertarian thought. If you look at the second half of the Ten Commandments those are regarding mans relationship to his fellow man.  It's the best of the non-aggression axiom. Yes he'd be about healing and exposing corruption but His first priority was bringing men back into right relationship with the Father.

Let's be real: Jesus is a statist. Pro-Life, Anti-Gay Marriage, 100% Tax on the Rich, Welfare, ect.

Ever heard of "Give unto Caesar that which is Caesar's"?

When I ever heard it, I always associated it in my head with a sort of separation of political and religious life, or something akin (not Akin) to it. Pay your taxes for you are a citizen, however give to God what is rightfully God's, your life and your prayer. Implying that the government in fact owns and has the right to take whatever money it mints sounds a bit off. Not that I'm implying Jesus wouldn't be in favor of social justice or anything like that. But it was never my interpretation that Jesus said "The government owns your money, it can do what it wants with it".

I always saw it as "just pay your taxes, be more concerned with the result of those taxes" in a social justice way.

Heh. I remember seeing this. Despite the rhetoric, the evangelicals know better than to do something like that. It's just a communal expression. And I think if the evangelicals read the New Testament instead of just invoking it, they'd get a lot to think about.

Voting for Jesus is a little like the weird Elvis obsession. I know an old guy and his wife who went to Graceland one time to participate in a seance. I said slowly, "Gary? You know better. Don't you really?" Yes, he did. And deep down his wife did too. But it was just a communal expression.
