Perfect example of the elitist who thinks he knows better than you and wants to legislate that way too.

Typical corporate neoliberal. The fact this guy isn't in the mainstream right-wing party pretty much indicates what's wrong with America.

I think he's good as Mayor of NYC. Not sure I'd want him much higher up than that.

The fact that the Serious People love him so much is a fairly good indicator that he's fairly bad.

I think he's a very good mayor and very capable administrator. He's done his job very well and efficiently.

Massive HP.  I hate it when my party complains about "RINOs", and there are very few people that I would use that term for, but he is one of them.  At least I can still get a Big Gulp where I live.

With this and The Economist's support, Obama clinches the Very Serious Person vote.

Urgh. I didn't know that The Economist endorsed Obama.

I think Bloomberg is a marvelous politician, one of our more honorable and efficient ones. The way he's been the capstone of the  Koch-Giuliani-Bloomberg renewal of New York renewal, leading the city to health after 9/11, and the renewal of much of Brooklyn, really endears me to him. His health programme is nothing too bad, and the way it's been gradually implemented over the years is a testament to his acumen. No complaints there. What really scares me is a return to the stagnation of the Beame-Lindsay years, with the overtaxation, fiscal recklessness, and hyperregulation that nearly destroyed New York. Liu looks like the least worst option here.

Funnily enough, here's an Economist article on that topic.

Perfect example of the elitist who thinks he knows better than you and wants to legislate that way too.

So in other words, exactly my kind of politician.

Too much of a nanny mentality lies within him (like limiting soft drink portions served in public establishments), but an excellent mayor who typically displays good judgment about the things that matter. NYC is fortunate to have him at the helm. It is a city that works, and works well - perhaps the best run large city in America. FF.

I really don't care for Bloomy on a personal level and there are some big differences on policy but I do agree with much of your assessment. He is a capable executive of a very unwieldy animal.
