Let me rephrase, They of course have a right to be interested in our elections just as we should in theirs, however polling people who can't vote in our election is a waste of time, politically motivated, and a waste of money (for the polling firm).

More likely a waste of money for whoever commissioned the poll (some media outfit in most cases). Tho in the case of these multi-country polls, the motivation is probably more like a way of advertising where the firm is ready to conduct polling for other non-political purposes.  Not everything revolves around politics, not even political polling.
