Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton was irreparably damaged by the Gennifer Flowers scandal and performed poorly in New Hampshire, dropping out of the race soon after.  The primaries turned into a bitter fight between former Massachusetts Senator Paul Tsongas and former California Governor Jerry Brown.  In the end, Tsongas clinched the nomination after a series of big wins on Super Tuesday.  He selects Florida Senator Bob Graham as his running mate.

Furious at his lose in the primaries and perceiving that the Democratic establishment had firmly sided against him, Brown accepts an offer from Ross Perot to run with him as his VP as an act of protest.

Damn, I like all three candidates. Wouldn't Tsongas be closer ideologically to Brown than Clinton? All three were running under different types of "fiscally conservative socially liberal" as I recall. Not an easy choice.

I was only four at the time, so my knowledge comes form what I read, which seems to imply Tsongas is closer to Clinton.  While all three seemed to have run as social liberals/fiscal conservatives of varying types, Brown is also described on wikipedia as having "a significant reform agenda, including Congressional term limits, campaign finance reform, and the adoption of a flat income tax."

Just realized I messed up with the party initial by Perot's name.  1. The Reform party technically didn't exist yet at the time of '92.  2.  Even if it had, I should've differentiated it from the Republican.  Just pretend it's an "I" by Perot and Brown's names.  Embarrassed
