TO: President PBrunsel
FROM: Senator John Ford

Given recent news on the Sudanese governments blatant disregard for human life and liberty, I urge the President to order military attacks on the Khartoum regime.

Five months ago, I backed the Sudanese government into stopping the genocide in Darfur and convinced the Afican Union to begin peacekeeping in Darfur.  The Sudanese government has, as I feared they might, broken that agreement.  There must be consequences for this misbehavior by one of the world's leading state sponsors of terrorism.

Therefore, I urge the President to strike back at the Sudan.  During the last confrontation, we constucted enough bases in neighboring nations to sustain air attacks on the Sudan and we trained a regiment of Army Rangers to enter Darfur in case we had to deploy ground troops.  The Janjaweed are lightly armed, in many cases using only swords to spread their terror.  I urge the President and his national security team to take advantage of our preparedness, and I urge any citizen to become a signatory to this open letter.  I know our President, he is a good man, and he will do what is right if we as a nation stand behind him.

-Senator John Douglas Ford

It is our duty as a nation to stand behind human rights and liberty.  I  hope the President will give this action his utmost consideration.

I will order these attacks Senator Ford. You make valid points and I feel that the attack you bring forth must be made.

I hope that, even if not for the sake of formality, the attack will only be issued after the senate issues a declaration of war.

Have you even consulted with the Senate?

Please don't let the Senate's bureaucracy get in the way of ending these attacks.

The Senate doesn't have the power to declare war, I don't think. None the less, the 12th and 13th regiments of the Nevada Regional Guard and the 3rd regiment of the the Nevada State Air Force shall deploy.

Article I, Section 5, Clause 4:

"The power to declare war lies with Senate. The Senate must vote a majority on any war resolution. "

Its rather amusing because if any war resolution is introduced, the Senate is constitutionally obliged to vote for it.

Hmm, we need to fix that. Tongue
