In a bright spot for Republicans, Vice Presidential nominee Paul Ryan wins reelection to his House of Representatives seat in Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District.

Paul Ryan          Republican          199,715          55%
Rob Zerban       Democrat             157,721         43%
Keith Deschler   Libertarian                                   2%

So Paul Ryan returns to the House in what will no doubt be a very prominent role, especially since the Republicans maintain control of the House.

Still very comfortable, but that is Paul Ryan's narrowest reelection margin ever.

Imagine if his district had no parts of Waukesha County and all of Rock County...

I'd like to meet these Obama/Ryan voters who I assume must exist in some number in Kenosha, Racine, and Rock.

We can only hope, but Bachmann always manages to survive somehow. Imagine if Democrats had a better candidate and spent more money there this year. Missed opportunity.

But she might be running against Al Franken in 2014 anyway, lol.

I still like Paul Ryan a lot.

But, clearly a mistake to pick him for VP. A squash crop would've been more lively.

I can guarantee you -- 100% -- that Ryan, Bachmann, Cantor, and McConnell will all be reelected in 2014. I can also guarantee you -- 100% -- that if Perry is not reelected, it will be because he lost in the Republican primary, and no Democrat will be elected Governor of Texas in 2014.

Now that all of the votes are counted, Ryan received the lowest % of all 8 winners. Too bad a stronger candidate didn't choose to run against him.

Ryan has become too partisan a figure for him to be reelected without breaking a sweat in a Dem-leaning district.
Expect him to face much more vigorous challenges from now on, instead of the token opponents he had until now.

Does anyone know how he did relative to the Romney/Ryan ticket?

I hope he runs for President in 2016. I disagree with him and wouldn't vote for him, but at least we'd get that clear choice we were supposed to have this year when Romney won.

It's hilarious that Ryan did worse than Duffy and Ribble, who were actually targeted by national Democrats to be defeated. Hopefully we can knock him off in 2014 or 2016.

Worth targeting at some point during this electoral decade, clearly. But then it always was...
