I have sent RCP an email that they should remove that silly Reuters/Ipsos tracking poll from their average, just like the Economist/YouGov poll.

They are major outliers.

Rasmussen, Gallup, CNN and CBS all show ca. 50-50 ratings right now.

Reuters/Ipsos has a 38% (!!!) approval and YouGov is not much better.

These 2 were already way off compared with the 2014 exit poll.

Perhaps, on the flip side if we go back 3-4 month ago we can make a similar argument that Rasmussen should be taken off the RCP average since it consistently has a much higher approval rating for Obama than the rest of the pack.  All that took place since was Gallup and CBS has converged to the Rasmussen while Reuters/Ipsos and to some extend FOX and Economist/YouGov still has approval ratings more like 3-4 months ago.  That is the whole point of a RCP average.  House effects is not constant (in 2012 Reuters/Ipsos and Economist/YouGov were very accurate while Rasmussen has a history of a GOP bias which now seems to be reversed.)  So the best way to cater for all of this is go for an average accepting that there will be some that would not be close to the pack for some period of time.

The latest Reuters/Ipsos tracking poll has Obama's approval rating at 68% among Democrats !

How friggin insane of a result is this ?

They should definitely review their methodology, because they are a joke pollster.

Obama's approval surges to 50-44 in WaPo poll: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2015/01/19/obamas-approval-rating-bump-by-the-numbers/

Looks like the people really love him once again!

Who knows, in 2016 Obama might be more of a boon than a drag on Hillary.

They took the RV sample instead of the Adult sample into the average, despite the other 4 most recent polls in their average been Adult samples.

How long until we see the uniform SOTU +20 bump in the polls? Two? Three days?

The American People gave the speech rave reviews:

I would not be surprised if his approval rating were above 60% by the weekend.

It's time to repeal the 22nd Amendment and pave the way for Obama/Biden 2016.

Keep in mind some of that is that Obama supporters are more likely to watch him give the state of the union than detractors.

How does this compare to previous Obama state of the unions?

Rasmussen is at 51-47 today.

Rasmussen's daily numbers are based on a 3-day average (2 days are now in after the speech).

Obama also jumped to 41% in the Reuters/Ipsos poll. This is the first time he's over 40% in that since last May.

To be sure, this is "favorability" and not approval... but the two are obviously related:

Even rightwing RCP can't hide Obama's surge; that Reuters poll is an extreme outlier (and lol Fox).

If you remove the two outliers (Reuters & Fox) then Obama's approval is tied 48.4-48.4. And that's with RCP unnecessarily using the more negative Obama approval numbers from the NBC/WSJ Poll.

Obama at 45-49 on RCP. In the "Approve of Obama's Job on the Economy" question, he's slightly better at 46-49. For "Foreign Policy Job Approval", however, he's still doing terrible at 37-52.

Nice Sarcasm.

That hasn't happened since 2009. Didn't happen in his post-2010 boost, didn't happen in his post-2012 boost, didn't even happen when he got Osama Bin Laden Killed.

And you don't have to be an Obama supporter to have a non-negative outlook of his speech. I'd place myself in the somewhat positive category.

Obama at 60/38 in CA with adults, 52/45 with RVs, 50/48 with LVs. Sort of dumb to be screening LVs in an off-year, but there it is.

...California is no microcosm of America. At this point, it is nearly impossible to say what a 'likely voter of 2016' is.

PPP still had Presidential approval at 42% in Pennsylvania.
